JOB ROLE
To develop, monitor and optimize operation of Water Treatment Works to ensure cost effective
supply of water, in compliance with national standards to the satisfaction of all internal
(NamWater) and external customers (water users).

JOB REQUIREMENTS
 Qualifications
 B.Sc Chemistry/ B.Tech Water Care/Equivalent (NQF 7)

 Experience
 6 years’ appropriate experience in water treatment.

 Legal Requirement:
 Registration with National Engineering Council or other appropriate association will be

 Key Performance Areas

 Execute water treatment process audits and recommendations
 Ensure implementation of water treatment process that will produce water compliant with
national standards.
 Provide tutoring and mentoring to Water Supply staff and other personnel
 Investigate and advice on disposal of effluent from water treatment plants and
adherence to legal requirements.
 Provide Required Water Treatment Information to NamWater Stakeholders
 Advise on best water treatment practice.
 Compile treatment plant operating manuals.
 Advice on development of new Water Treatment Works.
 Develop Water Treatment Chemicals Procurement Policy for NamWater.
 Prepare tender and advice on procurement of cost effective water treatment chemicals.
 Stay abreast of new developments in water treatment processes.
