You have recently participated in an exchange programme, having spent a week abroad. Write
an email to a friend, telling him/her about your experience. Include information about who you
stayed with, what you did and how you benefited from the exchange.

Write your email in 80 - 100 words.

Dear Emily,

I just got back from Italy where, as you know, I have studied for the last 6 months in an exchange
programme.

Please, believe me when I tell you that I could not find one spare minute to respond to any of your
emails as well as my family’s. I was always in a bit of a rush.

The family that took me in, the Calistro family, was so sweet and caring, but also very adventurous.
They also had a son around our age, his name is Antonio. He wasn’t really my type, so I tried to talk
about you to him several times. You know, warming the water before the jump. (As I left, he told me
he will come to visit America one day to meet you! Isn’t it exciting?!)

Anyways, the school system there is very well organised, and the teachers are so civilised and
friendly. I think I might want to go back after we graduate just for the over-all atmosphere.

The one thing I couldn’t stand in the beginning was the heat. But I managed to get along with it after
all by taking a cold shower every day.

I can’t stress this enough on how lucky they are to have the sea so close to them from any angle. I
am so jalouse.

I am still very sad that I had to leave home for so long, but I wouldn’t trade this experience for the
world. The connexions, the friendships and everything that I did and had there are and will forever
be irreplaceable.

Can’t wait to see you on Sunday at church to catch up!
