This document provides instructions for an assignment on module 3 from the College of Engineering and Architecture at the Philippine College of Science and Technology. It contains two problems to solve related to lighting calculations for rooms. The first problem asks students to calculate the maintained surplus candlepower of each lamp for illuminating a 30m x 15m room with 15 lamps at an average illumination of 40 lm/m2. The second problem asks students to calculate the number of 200W lamps needed to illuminate a 33m x 13m factory space at an average of 72 lm/m2, given utilization and depreciation factors. Students are to solve the problems and submit their work by the deadline.

Assignment on Module 3:
Instruction: Solve the following problems and send it here in the LMS on or before the deadline. Show all your solutions.
1. A room 30 m × 15 m is to be illuminated by 15 lamps to give an average
illumination of 40 lm/m 2 . The utilization factor is 4.2 and the depreciation factor is 1.4. Find the M.S.C.P. of each lamp. 2. A factory space of 33 m × 13 m is to be illuminated with an average illumination of 72 lm/m2 by 200 W lamps. The coefficient of utilization is 0.4 and the depreciation factor is 1.4. Calculate the number of lamps required. The lumen output of a 200-W lamp is 2,730 lm.
