APCAS is a private non-section stock institution duly organized under existing Philippine laws and duly recognized as an

educational institution by the Department of Education (DepEd), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and Technical
Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) with business address at A.H. Banzon St., Ibayo, City of Balanga,
Philippines.

Its primary purpose is to discover and enhance the different aptitudes and interests of the individual student so as to equip
him with skills necessary for productive endeavor and thus, prepare him for work in the real world and/or for further formal
studies in higher education.

History
Since its beginning on February 1999, with plain guts and determination as weapons, Asia Pacific Academy of Bataan
has grown from a rented four-storey building in San Jose, Balanga, Bataan to its current state.

Many notable achievements have occurred throughout its eighteen-year duration, beginning in School Year 1999-2000
when the academy began its operations, offering First to Third Year levels of High School with 231 students – more than
good enough for a kick-off.

&emps; This early success resulted in moving to a brand new, permanent home of its own – the four-storey and the two-storey
buildings at A.H. Banzon St., Ibayo, Balanga, Bataan on August 3, 2001.

School Year 2001-2002 has begun reflecting the institution’s ever-widening horizons when it started to offer its initial
programs such as the four-year Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management (BSHRM); two-year
Certificate in Hotel and Restaurant Management (CHRM); Complete Elementary, Pre-Elementary, and Secondary
Education, making the name of the academy no longer applicable, thus the new name, Asia Pacific College of Advanced
Studies, was born.

As students’ academic aspirations were taken into consideration, APCAS provided another instructional space – a two-
storey College Building right behind the High School Building on September 16, 2002.

In School Year 2002-2003, APCAS has broadened its choice of programs, adding the four-year Bachelor of Arts in
Communication (ABComm) and the four-year Bachelor of Science in Tourism (BST).

It was on the fifth year of its operations when APCAS became the very first private institution in Bataan to offer the four-
year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program in School Year 2003-2004 with an influx of 289 enrollees for the first
semester.

Realizing the need of competent and dedicated secondary school teachers, APCAS has offered the program Bachelor in
Secondary Education since School Year 2005-2006.

No new course was offered in the School Year 2007-2008. However, existing facilities were improved. As deemed
integral to the quality education that APCAS has provided its students with, Computer Laboratory was upgraded and new units
were purchased. The institution also funded an upgrade of the Speech Laboratory allowing for a potent venue for language
speech improvement training.

An additional Multi-Purpose Hall was also constructed along with two new classrooms. Moreover, the school purchased a
2,102-square meter parcel of land for additional College Building in the near future.

In School Year 2008-2009, APCAS has continued proving its competence as it started to offer six new programs:
Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd), Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA), Bachelor of Science in Business
Administration (BSBA), Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship (BSEntrep), two-year Computer Programming, and
Certificate in Teaching.

Today, APCAS has not only added to its roster of program offerings Bachelor of Science in Customs Administration
(BSCA), Bachelor of Science in Criminology (BSCrim), Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE), Bachelor of Science
in Information Technology (BSIT), Associate in Computer Technology (ACT), Certificate in Professional Teaching (CPT) for
Secondary and Early Childhood Education, and Diploma in Culinary Arts (DCA) but it also offers the new K to 12 Curriculum
of the Department of Education, thus, the birth of Grades 11 and12 last School Year 2016-2017.

How to Know yourself?
We’re unsure around two things in particular
1. We don’t have a stable sense of what we are worth
2. We don’t have a secure hold on our own values and judgements.

Without knowing who we are , we tend to have particular trouble coping with either denigration or adulation. If
others decide if we are worthless or bad , there will be nothing inside us to prevent us from swallowing their
verdicts in their entirety, however wrong-headed, extreme or unkind they may be. We will be helpless before
the court of public opinion. We’ll always be asking other what we deserve before seeking inside for an answer.
Lacking an independent verdict, we also stand to be unnaturally hungry for external praise; the clapping of an
audience will matter more than would ever be wise. We’ll be prey to rushing toward s whatever idea or activity
the crowd happen to love. We will laugh at jokes that aren’t funny, uncritically accept undeserving concepts
that are vogue and neglect are truer talents for easy popular wins. We’ll trail public opinion slavishly, constantly
checking the world’s whim rather than consulting an inner barometer in order to know what we should want,
feel and value. We need to be kind on ourselves. No one is born with an independent ability to know who they
are. We learn to have an identity because, if we are blessed in our early years, someone else take the trouble to
study us with immense fairness, attention and kindness and then plays us back to us in a way that make sense
and that we can later emulate. They gives us the beginning of a true portrait of our identity which we can take
on and enrich over the years and use as a defence against the distorting verdicts from hurried and i’ll-
intentioned others. Knowing who one is is the real legacy of having been known properly by someone else at
the start. This early identity - building tends to unfold apparently innocuous life-saving small steps. ‘It must
really have hurt,’ a parent might say in response to an upset,  thereby validating infants own feelings. Or ‘it’s
okay not to feel happy on your birthday,’the parent might say another point, delicately upholding infant’s less
typical response to certain events. Ideally, the child isn’t just known , he or she is also interpreted as likeable. A
good parent offers generous interpretation; they are on the side of the child and are always ready to put the best
possible gloss on moments of ill-temper or of failure- which forms the basis upon which resilient self-esteem
can then later emerge. That is the ideal, but it can ofcourse go very wrong-and often does. A parent offer
mirroring that is out of synch with the reality of the child. ‘ Look who is such a happy little boy girl’a parent
might insist when the opposite is the case, badly scrambling the child's ability to connect with their own
emotions Or the parent might only lend the child a very harsh punitive way of interpreting itself, repeatedly
suggesting that it is i’ll intentioned and no good. Or the parent may simply not show  very much interest in the
child, focusing themselves elsewhere, so that the child grows up with a sense that not only is it not worth
cherishing, but also- because it has not been adequately seen and mirrored -that it doesn’t quite exist A feeling
of unreality is the direct consequence of emotional neglect. Realising that we lack a stable identity is a sobering
realisation. But we can, with a fair wind start to correct the problem at any point. We need to seek out the help
of a wise and kindly other person, perhaps a good psychotherapist, who can study us closely, mirror us properly
and then validate what they see. Through their eyes , we can learn to study, perhaps for the first time, how we
really feel and take seriously what we actually want. We can , by being witnessed generously, more often take
our own sides and feel increasingly solid inside, trusting ourselves more than we trust the crowd, feeling that we
might be able to say no, not always swaying in the wind and that we are in a possession of some of the ultimate
truths about us. Having come to know ourselves like this, we will be a little less hungry for praise, a little less
worried by opposition- and much more original in our thinking. We will have learnt the vital art of both
knowing and befriending who we really are.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“In Ancient Greece, the philosopher Socrates famously declared that the unexamined life was not worth living.
Asked to sum up what  all philosophical commandments could be reduced to, he replied: ‘Know yourself.’
Knowing yourself has extraordinary prestige in our culture. It has been framed as quite literally the meaning of
life.”
KNOW YOURSELF
Does it not happen all the time that we happen to underestimate ourselves? Don’t we just almost all the time
give others the credit they deserve but not us? It is very important to know ourselves. We tend to neglect our
own values, strengths each and every time we are judged. The true mantra for success is knowing yourself.

It’s necessary to know yourself. But how do you go about it, right? You must be aware of your strengths,
weaknesses, likes and dislikes. Observe and be aware of your moods, reactions and responses to what is
happening around you because then you will be able to react in the right manner. Then, become aware of how
these moods and emotions affect your state of mind. Also examine how you interact with others and observe
how your environment affects you.

Why is knowing yourself so important? Well, it is so because the knowing and understanding yourself part
would help you to make much better decisions, it will improve your decision making habits, in setting and
reaching appropriate goals and altogether living more productively and more. You can play many interesting
personality tests and evaluations for self-discovery that can help you become more in tune to yourself.

Interestingly there are many people who hardly know themselves. But how do you expect to grow in life and
become better if you don’t? It’s perfectly ok to explore what the heart wants and to tune out the rest of the world
long enough to build a relationship with your soul. In fact the moment you start interacting with yourself you
will discover that you know so little about your own self. Knowing yourself will make you meet the world.

Knowing yourself is definitely beyond knowing your favourite colour or your ideal mate. It is about discovering
yourself which will take you days, months or years. But once you do you will either love yourself or hate
yourself, either ways it will be a cherishing experience.
VALUES

Are individuals beliefs that motivate people to act one way or another. They serves as a guide for human
behavior.Generally,  people are predisposed to adopt the values that they are raised with.People also tend to
believe that those values are “right” because they are the values of their particular culture. Ethical decision
making often involves weighing values against each other and choosing which values to elevate. Conflicts can
result when people have different values, leading to clash of preferences and priorities. Some values have
intrinsic worth, such as love, truth and freedom. Other values such as ambition, courage, and responsibility
describe traits or behaviors that are instrumental as means to an end.Still other values are considered sacred and
are moral imperatives for those who believe in them. Sacred values will seldom be compromised because they
are perceived as duties rather than as factors to be weighed in decision making. For example, for some people
their nations flag may represent a sacred value. But for others, the flag may just be a piece of cloth. So, whether
values are sacred , have intrinsic worth, or are a means to an end, values vary among individuals and across
cultures and time. However, values are universally recognized as a driving force in our ethical decision-making
INTEGRITY
For APCAS:Integrity compels us to ensure coherence between our words and actions, and challenges us to live
our names with sound moral principles at all times.
Integrity for APCAS means firm adherence to moral values in all aspects manifested through honesty and
fairness in dealing with the self, with others in the APCAS community and with different people of the society.

Joseph B. Wirthlin wants to find integrity as “always doing what is right and good regardless of the
immediate consequences.” it means be righteous from the very depth of or soul not only in our action but more
importantly in our thoughts and in our hearts. Personal integrity implies such trustworthiness and
incorruptibility that we are incapable of being false to a trust or a covenant. Integrity is consistency CS Lewis
described it as “doing what is right, even no one is watching.”
Integrity is derived from the latin word ‘integer’ which is a whole number that does not contain fractions or
decimals hence integrity is the state of quality of being complete undivided and unbroken but why integers are
so important as an example. If a group of individuals are asked to find 4 apples, they would have little trouble
doing so, however if they were asked to find 1.718 apples each individual would likely return different results
than the others, this example helps us to see that integrity is complete in action and helps us to be both truthful
and accurate. One who acts with integrity is not fractured or fragmented in their character, one cannot have
fractional integrity, partial honesty or  partial obedience to one’s moral convictions is in fact the antithesis of
integrity.
Douglas L. Collister spoke on this concept when he stated it is my experience that people most often find
themselves in trouble when they possess a dual morality such a person may appear to act one way but then
reverse his set of ethics when the moment is convenient or temptation is present such duplicity only leads to
sorrow and misery. At all times be sure there is only one of you otherwise you will find in your personal life
that a house divided against itself is destined to fall. Now that we understand what integrity is, why is it so
important for a leader to possess it?

Steven Fox (Managing Director, BYU Rollins Center); I believed it I believe in principled leadership I think
that the leaders ought to have a principles and not just any principles but good-good principles and I believe that
there is actually right and wrong and I think that integrity definitely falls on the side of things that are right, and
with integrity you end as a leader you end up engendering trust amongst the core people  that you’re either
managing or leading right with it, without integrity that trust in the leader it doesn’t necessarily exist, I;ve had
situations where I’ve had leaders who haven’t been a hundred a percent full of integrity and so they are I would
view them as less reliable less trustworthy, I’m not as willing to be as loyal to them as I would be somebody
who is actually full of integrity, so i think integrity is one of those principles that is at the foundation of what it
takes to be a great great leader, somebody who is not a leader who’s not full of integrity, I think has self-interest
at the heart of him or her in other words I think when it comes to crunch time I’m not convinced that leader will
look out for the in the bet for the best interest of the group or the organization that he or she is leading instead
he or she will do his or her best interest as opposed to what is needed for the group and so once I sense a leader
lacks integrity, I’m not as devoted to that leader, I’m not as loyal, they’re not as reliable to me and so I think
that really weaken them from a leadership perspective.

INTEGRITY fosters trust, a leader with integrity is followed because he is trusted. God is the ultimate example
of this type of leadership when he sent us to earth, we didn’t know exactly what to expect or what type of
hardships we would face but we followed his plan because we trusted him although we can’t remember our
premortal life, as we strive to understand who he is we can learn to trust him, we can have assurance that he will
care for us and that he will keep his promises if we follow him. We can lead with this same trust if we act with
integrity even if we don’t have the best leadership skills when we act consistently those we lead will know that
we can be trusted to always do what is right no matter the consequence. As a leader integrity will become an
asset, it defines who we are and how we should act because of our integrity the question will not be what to do
but will instead be how to do what we know to be right , once the difficult decisions  have been made we will
peace in ourselves knowing that we have stayed true to our principles. How can one develop integrity?
Integrity is principled based, personal principles are the foundation of one’s own integrity we must first learn
principles of integrity and then practice them,it is by staying true to our principles that our integrity is defined as
we strive to live by them we can learn from our failures and build upon our successes. Every time we are
obedient to our morals we gain momentum and courage to continue doing what we know is right, developing
integrity is truly a lifetime pursuit. We can live by good principles to guide our lives as we lead with integrity
we will create trust and  consistency regardless of the outcome we will have peace within ourselves because we
have stayed true to what defines us.

THE IMPORTANCE OF INTEGRITY

We have to be true to our character. We have to be genuine, authentic. In the end, you won’t make it if you fake
it.Think about the people you most look up to.  Are they perfect?  You can be sure that they are not!  What then
makes them so attractive? What is it about them that makes people want to follow them?  If they are successful,
ask why are they successful?  What makes them different from the average person?  If you read biographies of
such people one generally finds that the person in question is both self-aware and purposeful.  They have great
strengths but also genuine vulnerability. This gives them integrity that is magnetic. It is important to remember
that we have to accept our own vulnerability and weaknesses or they will catch us up, or catch us out in the end.
This takes real courage, as Brene Brown explains in her excellent book ‘Dare to Lead‘, but it is the best way to
maximising our potential.
If you are being proactive by maximising your strengths and being honest about your weaknesses people are
more likely to trust you.  You will be more confident and inspire the confidence of others.  If you have a firm
grounding in where you are and have a vision for where you are going then you will naturally be a more
attractive person.
If you are secure in who you are then others will feel secure around you.  Therefore, start with yourself; the one
person who you can really change.

FORTITUDE
The inner strength needed to face pain, hardship, difficulty and / or danger in achieving one’s goal. It allow us
to overcome fear and keep our will strong even in the face of great hurdles and difficulties. In other words it’s
basically courage not a lack of fear but the strength to overcome it. There’s no denying that fortitude is a good
trait no matter what you may want  out of life you’ll be much more likely get it if you approach it fortitude but
like every virtue it’s only a virtue  when it’s used in pursuit of good goals never evil ones.
Fortitude is the Moral Virtue that ensures firmness in difficulties and constancy in the pursuit of the good. It
strengthen the resolve to resist temptation and to overcome obstacles in the moral life. The virtue of fortitude
enables one to conquer fear, even fear of death and to face trials and persecution. It disposes one even to
renounce and sacrifice his life in defense of a just cause.
Using the courage in the right thing=FORTITUDE
Using the courage in doing the wrong thing=OBSTINACY
No matter how brave you are, it’s not a virtue unless you plan to do the right thing.
