Unit 3: PERFORMANCE

She has been to a parade before and thought that it would be cool to be in a parade.

He said that he didn’t know what performance was and he has never been to a
parade before.

At a parade, he saw people in cars throwing candy. He didn’t think that he saw
balloons. He also saw horses but thought that it was really silly to have horses in the
city.

She didn’t know the difference between a fair and a parade. When asked, she said
that she has been to a parade and rode on some rides while she was there.

Claire​ said that she likes parades and performing. She knows that one of the things
she can perform is dancing like she does in her ballet class.

He has been to a parade before and said that he saw a policeman that threw candy
and that there was a float that was spraying water.

He said that he likes singing and dancing in front of friends and he understood that
performing involved any type of talent.

He said that he has been to a parade before, but he didn’t know that there was music
in a parade.

She said that her parents went to a parade but she didn’t know what was there.

When I asked if he has performed, he said that he performed in a play as a pilgrim

for Charlie Brown’s Thanksgiving and that he has only seen a parade on TV.
 He said that he doesn’t have any talents but he didn’t know that painting was a
talent and that we perform our talents. He knew that people can perform singing
and playing an instrument.

Unit 4: FOOD SCIENCE/COOKING

She said that she has watched her mom cook potatoes and gravy. She has never seen
ice cream made.

He said that he is too young to cook, but that he saw a cooking show and they made
cake on the show.

She is the oldest child in her family and has 3 younger siblings, so her mom has her
help cook. She knew that sometimes they would put food in the fridge so that it
could stay cold.

He said that he saw his dad cook hamburgers on a grill outside and they turned
brown but were pink at first.

Garrett​ said he knew that kitchen tools were used for cooking but didn’t know the
names of any.

Malia​ says she likes to mix ingredients. She pretended to make ice cream outside
with the snow. She also knew that ice cream melts when it gets too warm.

He said that sometimes he likes to cook mac n’ cheese with his mom, but he has
never cooked with his dad.

She said she sees her mom use cooking tools.

She said that she loves rainbow sherbet ice cream.

Said he likes to bake cookies. ​Price​ didn’t know what a whisk was but knew that you
can use a “mixer” machine to stir.

She said that when her mom makes mac n’ cheese, she lets her put the cheese in the
pot and mix it. Said she likes to cook but doesn’t know about the kitchen tools.

She said that she likes to cook pizza at home.

She said that every year, her mom will cook cake for birthdays. She knew that they
have to be put in the oven so they can be made warm. She likes to make snow ice
cream.
 Adam​ only knew that you use the cooking tools to cook.

She said that knives are used for spreading jelly and butter.

She knew that ice cream melts when it gets hot and cookies get warm when they are
put in the oven.

Ender​ likes to mix ingredients. He also pretended to make the snow ice cream
outside. He knows you can use pots and pans for cooking.

Bronston​ said he likes to help cook spaghetti. He said that he has made popsicles
with his mom in the summer and said that they freeze when he puts them in the
freezer.

Unit 5: Construction

Riggs​ said he likes to build ships. ​Riggs​ said that he has seen a wrecking ball, but he
hasn’t seen it knock down a building.

Hannah​ likes to fix things and play with the tools. Said that gravity has to do with
stuff falling down.

Said he likes to build towers.

Garrett​ said he likes to build towers and trucks. He said that gravity is when
something falls down.

Ethan​ said he likes to play with trucks. He said that he has seen a wrecking ball on
TV knock over a building. ​Ethan​ said he didn’t know what gravity was when I asked
him.

She knew what the word construction meant and that the men that work
construction work all the time and they work really hard.

Price​ likes to build buildings and towers.

She said that she has seen a tractor before but hasn’t sat in one. She said that her
dad owns a 4 wheeler.

She said that she doesn’t know what construction means when I asked her.

Said he likes to build tall towers.

Adam​ likes building and tractors for hauling grain. As well as tall buildings. ​Adam
said that he has never been to a construction site before.

Mary​ said she likes trucks.

Ruby​ said she likes to build houses. She said that she knows that buildings are made
out of wood and the windows on buildings are made out of glass. She said that
gravity is when something pushes.

He said he likes tractors and building things. ​Ender​ also talked about gravity and
how there is no gravity in space. Then he went on to talk about the black hole in
outer space. ​Ender​ likes to build blocks. He said gravity is where you push
something and it falls on the ground.

Says that he knows adults mostly use construction tools. He also said that gravity is
where you float in the water.
