Kay Sunderland, being from a very conservative workspace at IBM is very
conventional, Investigative and Production oriented in her work and management
style. She likes a more of a hands-on approach with the employees. Her sources of
power being that she is an expert in Business and Strategy.

2. Describe Morgan’s management and work style. What are his sources of power?
Mike Morgan is a development-oriented person. This is from his long working
experience at Streamlined Inc. As a content developer he is a very artistic and an
enterprising individual.
Mike is an innovative and creative individual who is an indispensable employee of the
company, given that there is only one content director.

3. What is going on here? Why did Morgan call Nunez? Why did Nunez call
Sunderland?
When Morgan tried to contact Kay, she was not available and so, he directly called up
Nunez to discuss the training program case without informing.
Nunez felt that this was very unprofessional on Morgan’s part. He called her
incessantly. She was fed with this and finally called Sunderland.
Difference in the working styles, perceptions and specializations of Kay and Mike has
led to a problem as Morgan directly called Nunez without taking Kay into the loop

Kay Sunderland is a Conventional and insightful individual while Mike Morgan is a
creative and sensible individual. This is a direct reflection of their jobs. Because of
this distinction in working styles, Morgan feels that Sunderland is exceptionally
