Graphing with Motion Maps (Studio 2)

Section 1 Directions:
For each of the below scenarios complete the following:
1. Circle each scenario in a different color.
2. Read each scenario carefully.
3. Circle any and all graphs that match that scenario in the same color.

Tesla runs away from her house

in the negative direction, she then
gets distracted by a squirrel and walks
in the opposite direction. The squirrel
ran up a tree so Tesla stopped to bark.

Goose is on the loose! He is at a

neighbor’s house and needs to find
his way home. He walks in the
positive direction to try his home.
Mrs. Smith sees him and yells for him
to come home. He stops when he
hears her and looks around. When he
sees her he turns around and runs in
the opposite direction back home!

Poppy runs in the negative direction

into the tunnels going to Bergen Town.
She realizes Branch didn’t follow her
because he is stubborn. So she runs back
to Branch. She stands still and pleads
with him to come with her.

Section 2 Directions: Complete the 3 boxes that represent the same motion as the completed box.
The dashed lines on the motion graphs are to indicate the time of the strobe flashes for the motion
maps. The first flash is at zero time.

Graphing with Motion Maps (Studio 1)

This side of the worksheet will be done with motion detectors!!
Intro activity: Get a feel for the motion detector by trying to recreate these graphs
below.
1. Click the capture button on the computer
2. Wait for the “Clicking” Noise to start coming out of the motion detector
3. Move to match the graphs
Note: You should find out which direction is positive by doing this intro activity before
moving on.

1. First you will predict the graphs in pencil.

2. Next you will perform the motion shown in each problem with a motion detector.
3. Then you will correct your predictions in red based on the graphs given to you by
logger pro.
