Steps to be Taken in Case of Spill or Accidental Discharge

Handling Of waste
Personal Protective Equipment’s:
Use / wear appropriate PPE according to the potential hazard when
handling the discarded electronic part
 Gloves: Wear fabric gloves when handling discarded electronic
part
 Dust Mask: Wear dust mask if there is a risk of inhalation of
dust
 Respirator: Wear respirator if there is a risk of solvent vapour
 Goggles: Use goggles with side shield if there is a risk of splash
of discarded electronic part
 Face Shield: -.
 Others: Wear overall apron when handling discarded electronic
part if necessary.
Procedures/ Precaution in handling, packaging, transporting and
storage.
 Handling: Handling waste shall be in adequate ventilation and
appropriate PPE with proper equipment. Avoid repeated and
prolonged exposure to skin and eyes. Prevent from direct
flames or open light and prohibited smoke. Keep away from all
source of ignition. Take precaution against electrostatic
change.
 Packaging: Use jumbo bag or Karton box and place in
containment areas.
Causing Material Damage Arising from:-
Spill on floor, soil, road, etc.
Stop the spill or release of waste- Contain and recover the spill.
Collect the contaminated sorbent. Clean up all contaminated area
immediately by using spill kit or sorbent pads.
Spill into water
Stop the spill or release of waste- The leak or spill should be stopped
by properly qualified and equipped personnel. Contain and recover/
collect the waste and clean up all contaminated area immediately.
Form the emergency response team (ERT) to handling this job.
Fire/ explosion
Isolate hazard area. Keep unnecessary and unprotected personnel
from entering. Ventilate area and avoid breathing vapour or mist. A
vapour suppressing foam may be used to reduce vapours. Use
appropriate firefighting measure for optimum effectiveness. Contain
spill of waste from surface water and sewers. Recover the waste if
possible. Form ERT to handling this job.
