GOLDEN KEY INTERNATIONAL HONOUR SOCIETY

CHAPTER STANDARDS GUIDELINES (ASIA-PACIFIC)

ABOUT THE CHAPTER STANDARDS

What are the Chapter Standards?

The Golden Key Chapter Standards are a guide for chapter activities and events, and are largely based
on the three pillars of the Society’s mission to enable members to realise their potential through the
advancement of Academics, Leadership and Service. It is also a way to measure the impact of a chapter
on campus or in the community. Based on its performance, a chapter can be awarded a level of Gold,
Silver, Bronze, Good Standing or Not in Good Standing. The Chapter Standards are reviewed annually
and the results are announced during the annual Asia-Pacific Conference.

How are the Chapter Standards calculated?

The chapter standings are calculated on a points-based system. Points are allocated upon the completion
of various tasks, activities and events. Tasks are compulsory, unless otherwise indicated with an asterisk
(*) which makes the task optional. Chapter Standards are given based on the calendar year (1 January to
31 December) regardless of when a chapter’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) is held.

The Chapter Standards Table provides a breakdown of points allocated to each section of the Standards
i.e. Community Service, Academics and Leadership, as well as the minimum number of points needed to
qualify for Good Standing, Bronze, Silver or Gold level. An explanation of the Chapter Standards criteria
by category is provided below.

How do I report for the Chapter Standards?

Chapter Standards reporting is due twice a year on 30 June and 24 December. This must include:
 Annual Plan and Report excel document
 Either the Chapter Finances and Project Tracker OR Chapter Financial Report
 A recent bank statement showing the current balance, BSB and Account Number.

It is the chapter’s responsibility to ensure that all activities and events are accurately recorded, and
regularly reported to Golden Key. Golden Key Asia-Pacific Headquarters (APHQ) will use these reports
to assess a chapter’s standing. All reporting must be completed by the designated deadlines for it to be
considered as part of the Chapter Standards.

Good Standing
A chapter is in Good Standing when it has an active Executive Committee consisting of at least a
President and Advisor. The chapter must also complete an annual Membership Drive. A minimum of 18
points is needed in order to achieve Good Standing.
