learning and understanding your lines.

(Mom and dad are in the dining room while Betty is getting ready for her first day at work. Mom is
desperately fixing everything up, but dad is relaxed reading the news).
BETTY’S MOM
OMG, Betty! Hurry up! You’re gonna be late!
BETTY’S DAD
Give her a break, woman. She’s an important assistant now. She doesn’t need your lectures.
BETTY’S MOM
Shut your mouth, you lazy old man! Help me get everything ready. Our beautiful girl is going to
work! (She smiles picturing her successful daughter)
BETTY’S DAD
Well, you know she’s not that beautiful… She looks just like you.
BETTY’S MOM
How dare you imply we are ugly?
(She takes the newspaper and hits the man on his shoulder. Meanwhile, Betty appears agitated
and running)
BETTY
You two are fighting again? C’mon, look at me. I’m ready for work. (She smiles at a mirror
while fixing her hair and glasses)
BETTY’S MOM
You look pretty, honey!
BETTY’S DAD
Yeah, pretty ugly! (He laughs)
(Betty looks confused, grabs her stuff and leaves the room; her mom runs after her giving her

BETTY’S DAD
Are you crazy? My mom wasn’t too ugly, but your mom was hideous. It’s your fault!
