“The possibility sacrificing economic growth in order to

promote environmental protection”

Our planet has come a long way. From the very beginning of time to now, the
modern age, a lot has drastically changed in our Mother Earth. Now, we are challenged
by a number of environmental destructions. From the depletion of many forests to the
extinction of hundreds of animals, we are slowly killing our only planet. But is sacrificing
our economic growth in order to promote environmental protection really essential?
Protecting our environment is really an important thing that we should uphold. It does
not only protect our environment but in a way, it preserves the life there is in it, this
includes our lives. But despite this, I still don’t think sacrificing the economic growth is
necessary.
First reason why I disagree is, economic growth can become a way to better
protect our environment. We just need to make sure that this growth in our economy is
used wisely. This is because economic growth gives access for better methods and
resources that we can use in protecting the said environment. My second reason is,
economic growth is important to the lives of the people. Through economic growth
there will be a lesser case of unemployment. We all know that not having work in the
modern age can be really difficult that is why governments around the world strive to
decrease the rate of unemployment in their countries. My last reason is, economic
growth can improve government finances. With the growth of the economy, the
government will have a bigger budget to use. This budget can be used to build more
schools that would later educate children about the importance of taking good care of
the environment. With a bigger budget, the government is able to do more with
programs that aim to protect the environment. They can finance these programs and
help them to grow in order to protect more of the planet.
In protecting our environment, there is no need to compromise the growth of our
economy. Infact, we can make use of this growth to protect the environment we live in,
to protect our only planet. We just need to look deeper and find a way to make it work.
If there is a will, there’s a way. If we really appreciate and treasure our planet, we will
eventually find a way to protect it and this way might become the best way to do so.
