DON BOSCO SCHOOL (SALESIAN SISTERS), INC.

First Quarter AY 2020 – 2021

PERFORMANCE TASK
Mathematics – Grade 1

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
• Recognize, represent, and order whole numbers up to 100
• Recognize and represent ordinal numbers up to 10 in various forms and
contexts

GOAL: By applying the concepts of comparing numbers, arranging numbers,

and the use of ordinal numbers, you are to determine the most
economical products or supplies a family can buy to support their daily
needs

ROLE: You are a smart consumer adviser who will recommend the best products
to buy based on price and quality of goods either from a wet market or
from the mall

AUDIENCE: Mothers and fathers who regularly buy food and other basic needs
for their families

SITUATION: In this time of the pandemic, the financial resources of families are
not as abundant as before. Mothers and fathers need to be wise in
buying the daily needs of their families. The same items can have different
prices depending on where we buy them from.

Your task is to classify and compare the same products brought from 2
neighbouring supermarkets - Supermarket A and Supermarket B in order to
give valuable advice to mothers and fathers in a certain locality
regarding where they should buy basic goods in order to save money
while meeting their families’ needs.

PRODUCT: Given a hypothetical weekly grocery list for a family of 4 that

includes at least 10 basic household goods like food items, toiletries,
cleaning materials, etc. compare and contrast their prices. Put a yellow
shade on the box of the cheaper items so that consumers will easily be
able to identify what products are cheaper at Supermarket A, and which
ones are cheaper from Supermarket B. After identifying which ones are
the cheaper choice, prioritize the items according to importance if the
buyer does not have enough money to buy all 10 items for the week.

Present a 2-3 minute video of yourself explaining your role (a consumer adviser)
and the given situation. Show the weekly grocery list, highlight the differences of
the items and their prices using the mathematical concept of comparing
numbers. End with a conclusion about the importance of comparing the prices
of goods before buying them in order to save money especially during this time
of the pandemic.

STANDARDS: Your performance will be graded according to the following

criteria: content, delivery, and time of completion of output.
