LESSON: Your Body Parts Move
Hello, boys and girls! Are you ready to learn? In this lesson, you will learn
the following:
1. The Parts of the Body
2. Creating Body Shapes
3. Balance
4. Transfer of Weight
5. Importance of Joining in Physical Activities

Upper Part

Body Parts Description

The head can move up and down. It


also can move to the right and to the
left.

Head (ulo)
The neck helps the head move.

The shoulders help move the arms.

Shoulders (balikat)

The chest moves as you breathe. It


moves up and down.

Chest ( dibdib)
These are the right and left arms.
They can move in any direction.

Arms(braso)

The elbow moves the hand.

Elbow (siko)

The hands can open and close. They


help you crawl. They help you clap.

Hands(kamay)

The wrists help move the hands in


any direction.

Wrist (galang-galang)

Lower Part
Body Description
The waist moves the upper part of
the body. It can move to the right
and to the left side.

Waist (baywang)

The hips move around.

Hips(balakang)

The thighs help move the legs.

Thigh(hita)

The knees help you sit and stand.

Knee(tuhod)

The legs help you walk. They help


you rub. They help you move
anywhere you like.

Legs(binti)
The ankle moves around. It can
move up and down.

Ankle(bukong-bukong)

This is one of your feet. It helps you


walk, run, and jump.

Foot (paa)

The toes move up and down.

Toes(mga daliri sa paa)

Activity 1:

Moving Your Body Parts

A. Stand and show your body part that is described in each sentence.
1. I wiggle them inside your socks
2. I help bend your leg
3. I move your arms.
4. I hold things.
5. I hold up you head.
6. I help your legs walk.
7. You can walk and run using me.
8. I can push and pull.
9. I can move up and down using your neck.
10. I help bend your arm.

B. Do the following movements.


1. Bend your knees
2. Twist your waist to the left and to the right.
3. Sway both arms to the right and to the left.
4. Hop with your left foot.
5. Turn around your right shoulder from front to the back.
6. Stretch both arms sideward.
7. Nod your head.
8. Stand on your left foot. Turn around your right foot using your
ankle.
9. Put your hands on your waist. Turn your hips around.
10. Sit down. Cross your legs.

Make the following shapes using your body parts. Do it by yourself first.
Then do it by groups.

Showing Balance with Body Parts


Body parts help you in showing balance. How can the body parts help in
showing balance? Balance is keeping your body fixed. With balance, one
does not fall.
Look at each picture.
Why doesn’t the girl fall to the floor?

She used her two legs for keeping balance.


Her weight is found on both legs.

Why doesn’t the boy fall to the floor?

He used three body parts for keeping


balance. His weight is on his hands and on
one foot.
