16 Slice CT Scanner
Operational requirements
The spiral CT scanner system for high resolution whole body scanning.
The instrument must be capable of acquiring minimum 16 slices per 360° rotation.
The system must have latest iterative reconstruction technique in raw data space.
Technical Specifications
1. Scan Time
The scan time for one gantry rotation of complete 360° rotation should be 0.5 Sec or less.
with a choice for selection of different scan times.
It should be possible to use the minimum scan time for all applications
2. Scanning Capability
I. Pediatric and infant base protocols shall be available based on the infant weight.
70 KV Station must be offered.
II. Real time contrast monitoring acquisition with auto scan initiation protocol and with auto injector trigger.
III. High Contrast Resolution should be at least 15 lp/cm for axial and spiral scan at 0% MTF
IV. Low contrast resolution should be at least 5 mm at 3%
V. High Contrast Resolution and Low Contrast Resolution for spiral must be same as that for axial.
3. Gantry
1. Aperture should be at least 70 cm.
2. Tilt should be +/- 30 degree or more.
3. Scan Field of View (FOV) should be 50 cm or more.
4. Should be provided with user control panels on both side of gantry.
5. Remote tilt should be possible from Console Room.
6.Laser positioning lights with 1 mm positioning accuracy should be available.
4. Detectors
1. Solid state detector system generating 16 slices per 360 degrees rotation. Submillimeter slice thickness
should be available for axial and helical modes with 24 or more rows detectors (24 at least)
2. The detectors shall have multiple rows with each row having at least over 670 elements. The type of
detector should be specified.
3. Detector system should not require frequent calibrations.
4. The detectors shall be large area detector with Z axis coverage of 20 mm or more.
5. Slice Thickness
16 slice acquisition with minimum thickness of .75 mm or less, any variable slice thickness from 0.75 mm to
7.5 mm in spiral mode and 0.75 mm to 10 mm in axial mode.
8. X-Ray Generator
High frequency X-ray generator should be with minimum output of 50KW , output with max current of 400
mA or more, KV selections 90 to 140 KV. Specify various mA –KVP combinations available. Maximum Power
atleast 50 KW, fine adjustment.
9. X-Ray Tube
It should be suitable latest technology X-ray tube with high heat dissipation rate at least 800 KHU /min.
High heat storage capacity 6.0 MHU or more. for uninterrupted
operation.
Smaller focal spots preferred. Should have Dynamic Focal Spots.
10.Patient Table
Carbon Fiber Table Top with Load carrying capacity 150 Kg with 1mm positioning accuracy.
Horizontal Table speed preferably 100 mm/sec.
Metal free scan able range of 160 cm or more
Facility of positioning aid for horizontal Iso-centric positioning of the patient.
Manual movement of the table should be possible in case of power failure.
Minimum table top height should be 50 cm or less from the floor level for easy transportation of trauma
patients.
Remote UP/DOWN, FWS,BWD should be standard.
All standard table accessories (like patient restrain kit, table extension head holder, table pad, arm rest, IV
pole, cushions etc) should be available.
11. Image Reconstruction
Reconstruction Field of View Range: 5-50 cm
Reconstruction Matrix: 1024 x 1024
Image reconstruction capability should be at least 10 images/sec.
Image Storage Capacity 500 GB or more
12. Image Display
Image Area Matrix Dimension: 1024 x 1024
13.Operator Console:
a) It should have a large 18” or more high resolution LCD monitor.
b) The system should be user friendly with all functions menu driven. It should be modern user interface.
c) All functions including scanning image reconstruction, film documentation, archiving, transferring, MPR
Angiography maximum intensity projection, 3D volume rendering, 3D SSD, CT Angio, CT Urography, vessel
analysis, should be possible on console MIP, CT Angio software with quantitative vessel analysis must be
provided.
14.Computer System & Image Processor
a) 64 Bit Bit main CPU with at least 6 GB RAM memory or better
b) High speed CPU using Pentium 4 or better running at 3.0 GHz or better
c) Hard Disc of 500 GB or more
d) Image storage in 512 x 512 matrix for storage of 7, 00,000 images or more.
e) DVD/CD archive capacity
f) Image Processor: Operating system shall be windows based
g) The image reconstruction time should be at least 8 images /sec or better for
all types of acquisition modes including Cone Beam Correction, Neuro Imaging studies.
15.Software
a) Should have DICOM 3.0 compatibility
b) Volume rendering technique with axial cross reference imaging along with
measurement tools on volume rendered image 3D, 3D small volume
measurement package MIP slab viewer
16.Patient Communication System
An integrated intercom and Automated Patient Instruction System (API) should be provided
17.Others
a) System should have PACS interface ready without any new hardware or software.
b) Fully DICOM 3.0 compliant including
I. DICOM Modality work list, with automatic procedure selection
II. Capability from HIS-RIS interface
III. A Barcode reader for entering patient data from HIS RIS must be possible.
