Summary of the CvSU At A Glance

Cavite State University started as a pioneer "Indang Intermediate School" in

the year 1906. Since then the school name went through several changes. "Indang

Farm school" in 1918, and "Indang Rural Highschool" in the year 1927. As the

recognition of the contribution of Don Severino Delas Alas the school was named

"Don Severino National Agricultural School" in 1958. In 1964 the school was

converted into the university called "Don Severino Agricultural College (DSAC).

Finally, on January 22, 1998, the school was converted to" Cavite State University.

This school located at Indang was the main campus of CVSU and consisted of 76.6

hectares. And it is maintained the colleges offering 108 undergraduate, 28 graduate,

and 13 non-degree programs. The College of Agriculture Food Environment and

Natural Resources, College of Arts and Science, College of Criminal Justice, College

of Economics, Management and Development Studies, College of Education,

College of Engineering and Information Technology, College of Nursing, College of

Sports, Physical Education and Recreation, College of Veterinary Medicine and

Biomedical Science and Graduate School and open learning college. The CVSU

prides itself on being the "center of excellence in Agriculture". Academic programs

are regularly submitted for accreditations by ACCUP. Of the 92 creditable programs,

42 have level 1 status, 22 have level 2 status and 11 have 3 status. BS Agricultural

program so far has the level 4 status. Consistently producing top catchers obtaining

100% passing grades, and above the national passing percentage in different

licensure examinations. The University also continues to serve foreign students


enrolled in different programs who come from Asia Pacific and Oceania, North

America, Africa and other Asian countries. Faculty members perpetually strive for

excellence by pursuing master. While others are enjoying scholars by government

and non-government organizations. Through the years, CVSU has established

satellite campuses through memorandum of agreement with a local government

units or lgu. Naic and Rosario were intergrated to the university by virtue of CHED

memorandum No. 27 series of 2000.Today it has 11 satellite campuses located in

different municipalities around the province : Bacoor Campus, Carmona Campus,

Cavite City Campus, Tanza Campus, Trece Martirez Campus, General Trias

Campus, Imus Campus, Silang Campus, and Maragondon Campus. The president

of CVSU is Dr. Hernando D. Robles he is also in charge of overall administration and

supervision. With the bits of help of vice presidents; Dr. Leyna L. Cero VP Planning

and Development, Dr. Julio G. Alava VP External and Business Affairs, Dr. Camilo

A. Polinga VP Academic Affair, Dr. Ruel M. Mojica VP Research and Extention, and

Dr. Henry O. Garcia VP Administration and Support Service. The research agenda of

the university focuses on these areas: Agri-fisheries and food security, Biodiversity

and Environmental Conservation, Public Health and Welfare, Smart Engineering,

ICT and Industrial Competitiveness, and Societal Development and Equality.

Researchers are allowed to present their papers in local and international areas.

Since 2008, CVSU is the based agency of the STARRDEC. CVSU has maintained

the national coffee research development and extention center. It is the maintenance

of coffees also producing some coffee products. The establishment of Agri-Eco

tourism is another attraction that will surely boost the income of the university. It is q

farm and ecology based project that will showcase the existing resources designed

to highlight new technologies and boost the natural beauty of the campus. Even
though they are facing the new challenges of k-12 issues and concerns now facing

the challenges to be a global university, CVSU remains to be leveled 4 state

university in CALABARZON in SUC level.
