IV. Problems Encountered During the Year and Proposed Solutions

During the just elapsed 2019/2020 school year, a number of challenges significantly impaired
performance:

-Lack of didactic material (textbooks, workbooks etc.) by students;

- Chronic absenteeism of students from some classes;

- Late coming of students during early morning periods;

- Laxity in doing assignments, homework and revision of lessons by students;

- The absence of internet for access to online study support;

- The long school break due to COVID-19.

The following solutions were proposed by the department

- Students should acquire at least the lone text books per subject prescribed on the official book
list;

- Close follow up of students by teachers and administration to ensure more assiduity and
discipline;

- Cautioning parents during PTA meetings on the importance of buying textbooks for their
children as well as following them up at home to ensure that they do their homework and revise
their lessons;
- Request more support from administration in terms of assistance to attend seminars,
workshops and organising field trips.

V. Perspectives for the 2020/2021 Academic Year

In view of the limitations of last academic year, members of department decided as follows:

- To be more duty conscious and assiduous;

- To follow up students closely;

- To keep in touch with parents and advise them on how to follow up and assist their children at
home in educational matters;

- Create more departmental forums for exchange of experiences and mutual support of staff
members.
