What I Need to Remember

Even before humans learned to read and write they were already artist as
manifested by the different archeological discoveries from the different parts of
the world. Different eras of the world manifested semblance of arts depending on
its aesthetic and practical needs.
Pre-historic era is classified as Stone Age. Paintings from the pre-historic
were found inside the caves which may have been their way of communicating
with each other. A concrete example of ancient drawing was found in the cave of
Lascaux. France. Venus of Willendorf was considered as one of the oldest
sculptures in history, this is a figurine carved from limestone that portrayed a nude
woman with protruding breast and abdomen, believe to be a fertility statue.
Another distinct art in ancient times is the hieroglyphs, a system of ancient
Egyptian writing using pictures and symbols.

Ancient Greek art portrays human form as manifested in their calyx-crater (mixing
bowl).
Byzantine art was purposely made to glorify the Christian religion and to express its
mystery. Enthroned Madonna and Child is among the art at this time to portray the
expression of the Christian belief. Morgan leaf is an artwork during Romanesque period.
