COMMUNICATIV
E OBJECTIVE
● Students will be able to talk about emergencies
● Students will share their own experiences related to the topic and identify what the best option
would have been in those situations.
TIMELINE / 1. Warm up: Students will develop a matching exercise related to emergency workers. After
SESSION that they will talk about what the most common emergency in their country is and if they
MANAGEMENT had seen or experiences any of the emergencies addressed (15 minutes)
2. Students will match some definitions with words related to the topic (10 minutes)
3. Listening activity: Students will be divided in three groups; each group will try to identify
as many details as they can from the dialogues they will listen to. Next, they will socialize
their answers in groups (15 minutes)
4. Students will listen again and complete the scripts of the dialogues with the correspondent
expression (15 minutes)
5. Students will complete some sentences by using present perfect or simple past structures
(15minutes)
6. Students will create a short role play dialogue with one of the following situations:
There is a house on fire across your street.
2. You are on the motorway. You see a car crash.
3. You can’t find your laptop. You think somebody stole it.
4. Your car window is broken. The radio is missing.
5. You hear an explosion. One of the buildings in your town is on fire.
(20 minutes)

emergencies and emergency operators.

The lesson is divided in different activities integrating the four skills. Each activity attempts at relating
the main topic with the students’ context whilst promoting reflection.
