• To help reduce traffic jam

on the route to the
international airport at
Devanahalli , Bangalore.

• To connect the airport to

the heart of the city of
Bangalore.

• More useful for the richer sector of people who own

vehicles.

• Useful for those people working in offices near the airport as

the project once executed, will help reduce the time taken to
travel to their work place.

 COST OF STEEL BRIDGE PROJECT

• To build the 6.7km steel bridge, the authorities had to uproot over 812
tress, and demolish heritage buildings where freedom fighters like
Subash Chandra Bose and Sri Viveshwaraya lived.

• Heating up of environment due to the use of ‘steel’ as the construction
material.

• The proposed flyover comes at
the cost of over 1700 crores.

• A huge amount of money went

into the pockets of the ruling
government through the bribes
received to implement the
project despite all the
discouragement recieved from
the citizens.

• The metro lines are to expand further in future which willconnect the
airport to various parts of the city.
Hence there is no real need of a flyover at this point.

 GOVERNMENT DROPS THE STEEL BRIDGE
PROJECT

• The decision to scrap the project was finally taken by the government
when the citizens of Bangalore got on roads to protest against this steel
bridge project .
