“Your Choice” Unit

After you complete the notes for this unit, it’s your choice of how you
would like to show mastery! Remember: everyone is required to complete the
notes and corresponding Google Forms. After that, you pick the activities to complete and reach 80 points.

DISCLAIMER: It is the full discretion of the food critic (teacher) to decide what level of proficiency your choice
has earned. Please refer to The Individual Activity Rubric for descriptions of proficiency.

APPETIZERS: 10 points each. Level 1. Basic. Smaller portions. Traditional.

❏ Sketch Notes → Choose any (or all) of the Unit notes and create Sketch Notes. NO complete
sentences, use bullets, pictures, and color! If you choose to do all four notes, you could earn 40
points.
❏ Make your sketch notes on Procreate
❏ Tutorial: Watch this Youtube video on how to make Sketch notes on your Ipad with Procreate

❏ Watch Crash Course- Immune System → Create a “worksheet” to go along with the video. Should
have 8-10 questions and a mix of question types. (with answers)
❏ Use google docs to create your “worksheet”

❏ Create Vocabulary Practice → choose the appropriate vocabulary from the unit and create a
Quizlet, Kahoot, or Gimkit. Minimum of 15 words.
❏ Options: Quizlet, Quizizz, Kahoot, or Gimkit
❏ Tutorials: Quizlet, Quizizz, Kahoot, or Gimkit
 ❏ Application (short)→ Watch a video on the provided list about an infectious disease. Answer the
questions, “how does that infectious disease affect the immune system?” (May watch up to 3 videos,
for a total of 30 points).
❏ Use google docs to answer your questions

ENTREES: 40 points each. Level 2 or 3. Substantial. Complex. Larger portions.

❏ Create a Study Guide → Must contain Level 1 and 2 questions and have a separate answer key
document. Minimum of 20 questions.
❏ Use google docs to create your Study Guide

❏ Create a Word Web/Concept Map → using the vocabulary within the unit, create a word
web/concept map that clearly shows the connections between chosen vocabulary. THIS NEEDS TO
BE VERY HIGH QUALITY TO PROVE HIGH PROFICIENCY.
❏ Use google draw to create a word web/concept map
❏ Tutorials: Watch this Youtube Video to learn how to use make a concept map on Google Draw

❏ Master Defense → prepares an oral presentation (video) to defend your mastery of the content. If
the teacher has follow-up questions, she will email you!
❏ Use Knovio or Screencastify to make your video accompanying your google slides
❏ Tutorials: Knovio or Screencastify

❏ Create a story/comic strip → Write a story or draw a comic w/ captions which show how the
immune system works (use analogies or a story of a person going through a scenario)
❏ Use Pixton to create your storyboard or comic strip
❏ Tutorial: Youtube video on how to use Pixton

DESSERTS: 80 points. Level 1, 2, or 3. Beyond the expected. Extensions.

❏ Full Application→ Research an infectious disease from the list provided and follow these directions,
to explain how your new knowledge of the immune system applies. (Format is up to you!)
❏ Use the above tutorials from the Entrees section to decide how you would like to present
your research

Q: How do I submit my work?

A: You will be submitting it all on Google Classroom under the assignment “Menu Submissions”. When you
submit an assignment, you can comment under it and tell me what part you are submitting. You will submit
ALL portions under the same assignment. For me, it looks like multiple submissions with different links!

Q: What is the summative assessment?

A: After participating in this menu, you will be having an assessment on Friday, December 18th. The
assessment will be in the form of 10 multiple choice questions and 3 short answer responses. A study guide
will be given to you on Monday, December 14th.
