Creating Teacher Account in Edpuzzle

Go to edpuzzle.com
1.Click the blue "Sign up" button and then click on the "I'm a teacher"
button.
2.You'll have two options: you can use your Google account or provide
your first and last names, email address and create a password.
3.To stay up-to-date, we recommend selecting the option to receive
notifications about your account and improvements to Edpuzzle.
4.Make sure to check your inbox (and spam folder) for the verification
email. This will give you full access to all of Edpuzzle's features.
Integrate Edpuzzle with Canvas
1.Log in to Canvas, go to “Courses” and select a class.
2.Click on “Settings” from the white menu bar on the left.
3.Click on the “Apps” tab.

follow:
7.To find this information, open a new tab or window and log in to or sign up for Edpuzzle Click on your circular profile
icon in the upper right-hand corner, select your name from the dropdown menu to go to your profile, then click on the
“School” tab (https://edpuzzle.com/profile?tab=school).
8.In the LMS dropdown menu at the bottom of the page, select Canvas.
9.Click the “Generate” button to get your consumer key and shared secret.
10.Now go back to Canvas.
11.Enter the fields for “Consumer Key” and “Shared Secret” and click the blue “Add App” button.

2.Select “Assignments” from the white menu bar on the left.
3.Click the blue “+ Assignment” button.
4.Give your assignment a title, and in the “Submission Type” drop-down menu, select “External Tool.”
5.Click the “Find” button, which will open the “Configure External Tool” pop-up. Select Edpuzzle.
6.This will open another pop-up window showing your “My Content” on Edpuzzle (or prompting you to log in if
you haven't done so already).
7.Select your video lesson by clicking the eye icon in the middle of the video.
8.Click the blue “Assign” button, which will return you to the “Configure External Tool” pop-up.
9.Click the blue “Select” button to confirm your assignment and close the pop-up.
10.Then you can set your due date and click the blue “Save” button to save the assignment (which won't be
visible to your students), or the gray “Save & Publish” button to send it to your students.
11.Now your video lesson will appear in your list of assignments on Canvas! Your students will start to appear as
they click on the assignment link.
• Best of all, once students complete the lessons their grades will automatically sync with Canvas!
How Students Can Use Edpuzzle
Through Canvas
• Your students will be able to log in to their Canvas accounts and complete
your Edpuzzle video lessons right from there! Here are some things to
keep in mind depending on the device they're using:
• For desktop: Students simply need to log in to Canvas and click on the
assignment(s) to view your edpuzzles.
• For tablets: Students can use the Canvas app to view your edpuzzles.
• For mobile: Students will need to use both the Canvas and Edpuzzle apps.
When they go to watch an edpuzzle through the Canvas app, they'll get a
pop-up prompting them to download the Edpuzzle app if they haven't
already, or if they have, students will be asked to open it in the Edpuzzle
app. When they're finished, they can return to the Canvas app.
• Why aren't my sections appearing in Edpuzzle?
• If you've set up various sections of the same class in Canvas, when you look at
your Gradebook on Edpuzzle, all of the students will appear as if they were in the
same class. This is because we don't have a sections feature on Edpuzzle, but
don't worry – your sections and gradebook in Canvas will still work perfectly!
• Canvas Features That Aren't Available With the Edpuzzle Integration
• A few features aren't supported with the Edpuzzle Canvas Integration. These
include:
• Speed grader. You can still easily grade your students' answers by going to the
assignment and clicking on "X answers to be graded."
• Reusing, cloning or importing a previous class. For Edpuzzle assignments, this
feature isn't currently available.
• Edpuzzle is 100% free for teachers and students. Our goal is to never charge a teacher for
using Edpuzzle because, as former teachers, we don't think you should ever have to pay
out of pocket for the resources you use in class!
• With our free Basic Plan, you can store up to 20 videos in your account. Some of our
teachers, however, have hundreds of videos stored in their accounts! Here's how you can
do it, too:
1.Refer your colleagues to Edpuzzle! Are you enjoying Edpuzzle? Share the love! For every
teacher you refer who creates an Edpuzzle account and verifies their email address, both
of you will receive space for three more lessons! You can invite them here:
https://edpuzzle.com/profile?tab=plan
2.Talk to your school about going Pro! There are probably more teachers than you think
using Edpuzzle at your school. When your school gets a Pro license, your admins gain
access to curated curriculum for PD and student certifications, your school gets dedicated
support, training and coaching, and all the teachers receive unlimited storage space
• With the Edpuzzle extension for Google Chrome, you can record, trim, and upload a screen recording, webcam video, or combination of the two.
•
• To record a video:
•
1.Open the Edpuzzle extension, either manually through your browser or by clicking the "Add Content" button at the top of your screen and then "Record video” from the menu that appears.

2.Choose the content you want to record.

1. “Tab” will record only the browser tab you’re currently viewing.
2. “Desktop” will allow you to choose to record all activity on your screen or a specific window.
3. “Camera only” will record only from your webcam.

If you don’t want to record audio from your microphone or video from your webcam, click the icons next to those inputs to turn them off.

1.Use the recording controls tool to toggle your microphone and webcam on and off and to pause, continue, stop, or delete the recording. Because these recording functions are made
possible by the Chrome extension, the controls tool will only appear within your browser window. This means that if you’re recording a window that isn’t your browser, you’ll need to head
back to Chrome to stop recording, etc.

2.When you’re done recording, click the square “Stop recording” icon in the controls tool (time limit of two hours per video). This will take you to a new screen that allows you to preview your
video, name it, trim it, choose a thumbnail image, and set the privacy level.

3.Click the “Next” button at the top of your page to move on to the Edpuzzle video editor where you can make further cuts (if necessary) and add your questions/notes before assigning the
lesson to your classes.

Using Flipgrid
• 9 NEW WAYS TO USE FLIPGRID
• 1. Sharing book reviews: With Flipgrid’s new augmented reality (AR) feature, classrooms
and classroom libraries can use the video QR code to create an engaging way for students
to share book reviews. After a student records their review, the teacher can print the QR
code and tape it on the book, and the student’s classmates can use their devices to scan the
code and watch the review as a way to help them decide if they’d like to read the book.
• 2. Practicing world language skills: Flipgrid makes it possible for teachers in different
districts and different countries to collaborate. For world language teachers, this creates
opportunities for students to practice their speaking skills with a larger group than just
their class. Students can post videos to get practice with the vocabulary they’re learning,
and instead of being limited to practicing with the people in their physical classroom, they
can engage and build their skills with other students around the world studying the same
language or have conversations with native speakers of the language.
• 3. Increasing accessibility for all students: Flipgrid has expanded many of its accessibility features to ensure that all
students can participate. Students can use closed captioning when viewing videos, which also generates a full
transcript for each video. Microsoft’s Immersive Reader can be used within both the closed captioning and any text
within a topic to read the texts aloud and break up words into syllables for easier decoding.
• 4. Inviting outside speakers: Using Guest Mode, teachers can invite guest speakers to participate in classroom
discussions. Guests can watch student videos and post their own videos. This option provides a way for experts in a
field to share their knowledge asynchronously, with students posting videos of their questions for the expert to
answer at a convenient time in a video response. STEM teachers, for example, could invite engineers or scientists to
discuss their careers and research and to answer student questions.
• 5. Building student portfolios: A teacher can create a grid for student portfolios. Within this grid, the teacher creates a
topic for each student, and students post videos explaining their work, demonstrating a recently learned skill, or
reflecting on an in-class experience. The teacher can share the link to a student’s topic with their parents or
guardians so they can view their child’s work throughout the year. Since the topics can also be available to every
student in the class, students can observe their classmates’ work.
• 6. Adding annotations: When students record a video, they have the option to write directly on the video, and they
can add sticky notes with additional text. For students in math practicing solving problems or students in chemistry
learning to balance chemical equations, this feature is a great way to show their thinking.
• 7. Building a mixtape: The mixtape is a way to curate videos from any topic or grid in a single location. A
teacher can select any student video and add it to the mixtape, which can be shared with the entire class.
Collecting memories from throughout the year is a great way to take advantage of the feature: As the year
progresses, the teacher can save interesting videos or important moments from different topics. Watching
the mixtape as a class at the end of the year will help students recall what they’ve learned.
• 8. Sharing and celebrating work: Celebrating completed projects or finished assignments is often forgotten
in the classroom due to time constraints, but Flipgrid makes it fairly easy and quick. Using the student-to-
student replies option, everyone in the class can view and respond to each other’s videos. For example,
students in a history class could share a long-term project they have completed, walking through what they
learned and what they created. Peers in the class compose video responses, providing positive feedback on
the work completed. When I do this with my ELA students, I require everyone to comment on two or three
classmates’ projects from any of my sections.
• 9. Supporting absent students: Flipgrid can be a catch-up solution for students who are absent. The teacher
creates a topic for work completed in class, and if a student is absent during a given class period, one of
their peers can post a quick video about what assignments were completed in class so the absent students
can quickly learn about what they missed.

• When you create a Flipgrid Assignment, Flipgrid will automatically create a new Topic for you and
connect it to the Assignment. If this is your first Flipgrid Assignment in that Course, Flipgrid will also
create a new Group for the Course and place the Topic there.
• You cannot change which Topic is connected to the Assignment - this also means you cannot connect
a previously-created Topic.
1.After creating the Assignment, you should see the Flipgrid Topic embedded into the Assignment page.
2.If you selected 'Load This Tool In A New Tab', you should see a button labeled Load [Assignment
name] in a new window instead - click this button.

• Creating the Consumer Key and Shared Secret
• Here is how you can obtain a Consumer Key and Shared Secret for your Canvas LTI integration!
• (If you've previously created a Key and Secret for a Canvas account, and you're
simply reinstalling the integration for that account, please reuse the existing Key and Secret.)
1.Click on Profile from the bubble in the top-right corner of your Flipgrid educator dashboard
2.Select the Integrations tab
3.Click Add New Integration, select a name e.g. 'Canvas Account 1', and then click Create
4.Keep this open while you proceed with the integration setup, and you can copy-paste the Key
and Secret when needed
• Can I reuse the Consumer Key and Shared Secret?
• For each Canvas-Flipgrid account pair, the same Consumer Key and Shared Secret
can be reused for all Courses within the Canvas account - including if you're
reinstalling the integration. With different Canvas or Flipgrid accounts, however,
you'll need to generate a new Key and Secret for each pair.
• Do reuse:
• For every course in the same Canvas account that's connected to the same Flipgrid
account
• Don't reuse:
• When connecting the same Canvas account to different Flipgrid accounts
• When connecting the same Flipgrid account to different Canvas accounts
