Explanation text
■ An explanation text is a non- fiction text that is used to describe how or why
things happen. It usually includes a squence of events (explaining how) and
provides reasons for a process or phenomenon (why)
Sebuah teks “explanation” adalah bukan sebuah teks bukan fiksi yang digunakan untuk menjelaskan
bagaimana atau mengapa sesuatu terjadi.

Example:
Rain
Earthquakes
Covid 19
New Normal of the phenomenon ( New habit of the poeple)
Daring Learning
Etc.
 Types of Explanation texts
Explanation texts are categorized according to type of process they describe.

 Structure of an explanation text
■ Social Function (Fungsi sosialnya/tujuannya/manfaatnya)
An explanation text is used to describe how or why a certain phenomenon happens.
(Digunakan untuk menjelaskan bagaimana atau mengapa sebuah fenomena terjadi)
■ General structure
1. A title that identifies the topic to be explained (Judul mengidentifikasi topik yang akan di jelaskan)
2. An opening statment that identifies the process to be explained (pernyataan pembuka mengidentifikasi proses
yang akan di jelaskan)
3. A clear order of paragraph that describe how nad why (Perbedaan tiap paragraf menggambarkan bagaimana
dan mengapa)
4. A concluding paragraph that puts all the information togehter (Kesimpulan paragraf menggabungkan semua
informasi)
5. Finally, a visual text (a labeled image) (Intinya ada label gambar ttg sebuah kejadian yang terjadi)
