Earthquakes
Have we ever felt a vibration from underground that makes the earth feel spinning and moving fast?
Well, this vibration is an earthquake.

Earthquakes are vibrations or movements that occur suddenly as a result of the sudden release of
energy that occurs on the earth’s surface. The sudden release of energy causes seismic waves,
which are destructive to various things that stand on the earth, including buildings, trees, and
others. Earthquakes cannot be predicted by a variety of existing technologies, but their strength can
be measured using a seismometer. The most common scale used to measure the strength of an
earthquake is the Richter scale. (general statement)

The level of damage caused by the earthquake was not only due to its strength, but it was also
measured by the extent of the area where the earthquake occurred. The depth of an earthquake
that occurs on an earth’s surface can also have an effect on its destructive potential, the closer to
the ground surface, the more potential an earthquake will have destructive properties. The cause of
an earthquake is caused by the sudden release of energy resulting in a pressure. Earthquakes can
also be caused by active volcanic activity and this earthquake occurs coinciding with the process that
the volcano is about to erupt. Earthquakes are classified into two, namely tectonic earthquakes and
volcanic earthquakes. Tectonic earthquakes occur because the layers of the earth's crust become
soft or soft so they experience movement. Meanwhile, volcanic earthquakes occur because of a
very powerful volcanic eruption. These volcanic earthquakes occur less frequently than tectonic
earthquakes. (explanation)

Earthquakes can occur anytime and anywhere, regardless of the season and do not give a signal
when the disaster will occur. Earthquakes can destroy all existing buildings in a matter of minutes or
even seconds. However, earthquake concentrations tend to occur in certain places only. Like
Indonesia, which is on the path of the most active earthquake in the world because it is surrounded
by the Pacific ring of fire. Therefore, Indonesia is a region prone to volcanic eruptions, earthquakes
and tsunamis. (closing statement)
