The product series of that escalator is mainly for:

1) public service escalator, adoption aluminum type material arm-rest, all is a chain to
move, its inclination angles distinguishes to 30 °or 35 °, steps width series
1000 ,800 or 600 .

2) Slender type escalator, adoption stainless steel material arm-rest, all is a chain to
move, its Angle of inclination distinguishes to 30 °or 35 °, steps width series
1000 , 800 or 600.

2 Features、purposes & spectrum


This very escalator adopts GB16899-1997 Safety rules for the construction and
installation of escalators and passenger conveyors. The product is made with many
advantages, such as coherent framework, light , reliable、comfortable、Moderate
Incoming / outgoing Traffic、easy to install and repair and so on. This very escalator
can run from up to down or from down to up for a long time to meet the need of the
customers. It can also be used as a fixed stairs when the electricity fails to work.

4 Main textures and working principle


The escalator is made up of metal framework、driving principal axis, driving
devices,、handrail driving device、Guide Rails、rundle chains、rundle、handrail
equipment 、comb panel、system of electricity、system of lubrication . Etc.

4.1 Metal framework


4.1.1 The common type escalator solders girders such as angle iron and slot iron into a
full-closing form, which is strong and powerful.

4.1.2 slender type escalator solders rectangle steel tube, which is more powerful and
stronger. And the external appearance also increases significantly.

4.1.3 Comply the load and the measure, the metal framework is no more than 1/750 the

bearing distance, which meet the national standard completely.

Driving devices
Vertical traction machine, coherent framework,circulating steadily and reliable.
Or you can import traverse machine. Normal terminal stopping devices shall be
provided to slow down and stop the hand ladder automatically at the terminal landings
to keep it steady when the machine breaks down or is normally shut down.

Arm-rest driving devices


Taking advantage of the friction to drive the armrest belt and stairs running at the
same time.

Guide Rails equipment:


According to the request of the step sport and the analysis by dint, it adopts the cold
pulling zinc-paint to the different working area of the different guide rails, which not
only simplifies the construction and alleviates the weight, but also makes the sport like
this steady and dependable, installation convenient.

Step chains
Two sides of the escalator have two closings rolls chain, which exercise circulatorily
by driving the principal axis and the machine to run the steps. Promoting hand ladder
decides the length of the step chains. Each block is fixed by the dismantlable slice.

Steps
It carries guests directly. It is a small car in four-wheel that is a special construction
form. It has two kinds of forms, one is the separate-load type and the other is whole-load
form. It connects with the step chains by the step principal axis.

Arm-rest equipment
The arm-rest guide rails are lifted by the holder of aluminum type material( or
stainless steel) or by rubber or direct fixed to the glass top end in the steel according to
the different escalator type, which forms two beautiful transparent arm-rest protection
column on both sides of the escalator which will guide passengers in and out the
escalator safely.

4.7.1 Arm-rest guide rails:


The arm-rest driving device makes the arm-rest belt synchronous with steps class
circulating exercising by driving the arm-rest Guide Rails and guide rings belt .This
escalator adopts the way of pulling the metals Guide Rails and rolling the nylon Guide
Rails to constitute the arm-rest Guide Rails system .

4.7.2 wall-protection panel


It is specially made in adoption of the transparent thick steel glass of 10mm thick. It
stands in the inside in clip tightly and is fixed to the arm-rest shelf with stud bolts. The
inside and outside of the glass are covered with the stainless steel.

4.7.3 apron panel
Use the stainless steel front-panel and the form of C steel to enhance by welding
stud bolt, and then put together into an integral whole.

4.8 Front panel


It is made with the stainless steel panel, have the beautiful features, be powerful and
be in service long life etc.

4.9 Escalator working principle


The hand ladder moves up and down , which is a synchronous sport with the arm-
rest belt.

4.9.1 Step sport


The host chain wheels revolves by driving the principal axis with a pair of rolling
chains and step chain wheels fixed to the principal axis arouses the step chain. For the
sake of vibration and noise that let up the step sport, step wheels all adopts rolling
wheels with the gathering ammonia grease outside.

4.9.2 Arm-rest belts sport


When driving the principal axis, a row chain wheels fixed to the axis can acquire the
enough friction by running the arm-rest chain wheels and at the same time by adjusting
the tight dint. The glide between the arm-rest belts and the driving friction wheels is
very small, therefore can ensure the synchronous speed between steps and the arm-
rest belt. The synchronous flat-out error margin of the arm-rest belt and the steps is
only 0~+2%.

5 Transportation and installation


5.1 Examination of earth construction
5.1.1 According to the earth construction diagram of the hand ladder, check whether
the left size of the building matches the requests of the diagram paper or not, if not, you
must assistant and request the related construction units to correct before installation.

5.1.2 Space requests of installing the escalator in the inside of building

a) whether to provide a space for the lifting machine to turn over while lifting the
escalator with the lifting

b) Examine whether to support the position of the hanging point reasonably when
using the hook of the building to lift.

c) If setting up the temporary Dragon gate or the pole on the building to lift, you
should check whether there is a base for lifting ?

5.2 Crane carrying


You must ask the professional lifting troops to be responsible for the carrying of the

escalator. Generally the way of transportation adopts, if the escalator promotes higher,
or the framework length is too long, you can also dismantle the shipment to transport.

5.2.1 Way of crane carrying.


You should go forward from the fixed position of the seat place of supporting shelf.
If you transport the dismantled parts, you are strictly forbidden to result in the
deformation of the framework.

5.2.2 Ways of transport.


If transporting separately, you should establish the assistance supporting shelf
which is allowed to be fixed in the two sides of framework, but the top of which must
establish level conjunction shelf. In case of moving between the workpieces, you should
establish wooden pieces on the beam top.
5.3 Take-seat gearing
Movement of the escalator on the spot must fill the sleepers and roller at the both
touching end, strictly forbidden to use the iron pole to swing the framework. When the
escalator take its seat at last, please adjust the supporting sheet, and make the
framework horizontal level, lengthways level, the floor is generally at the same high
degree as the front panel.
5.4 Open and check the box
Check whether the parts are well-found according to the packing lists, divide into
appropriate sections and put them away after opening the box. If a few set of escalators
are installed at the same time, you should distinguish the parts of each set to put orderly,
preventing to confuse.
5.5 Installation of arm-rest equipments.
5.5.1 Pack the top and bottom arm-rest supporting shelves of the curved and pulley
clusters

5.5.2 Install the wall-protection panel.

5.5.3 Install the rest arm-rest supporting shelves

5.5.4 Install arm-rest guide rails

5.5.5 Install pressing belt equipment

5.5.6 Install arm-rest belts,adjust its tight dint.

6. Safe operation of escalator & general rules
6.1 Requests of usage environment

6.1.1 The exit and entrance of the escalator should have enough vacant land (2.5×2.5) to
prohibit anything to choke the passage in order to disperse passenger.

6.1.2 The area of the stairs should have enough lighting, and the lighting
degree of the exit and entrance should be lower than 50 LXs.

6.1.3 The area of climbing stairs should prepare the valid facilities to
cleaning the dust articles or objects of the shoe sole.

6.1.4 In consideration of the flows of the guests, establishes necessary


and safe column pole.

6.2 Marking safety requests


6.6.1 Should stand in the area of climbing stairs a marking card with the
contents as follows :

a) Grasp the child tightly

b) The dog must be embraced

c) While standing, face the direction of circulation, the feet must leave
the edge of steps

d) Grasp the arm-rest belts, stand inside the yellow marking.

e) No turning over the banisters

f) No barefoot

g) Bulky products in no conveyance

6.2.2 Standard marking drawing( see attached figure 1- figure3)

6.3 Safe announcements in operation


6.3.1 Garbage and miscellaneous articles or objects etc. should be examined
and tidied up between steps and comb teeth before Escalator is started.

6.3.2 The escalator should run for three minutes without carrying a person
at first. If there are abnormality voice or phenomena, you should stop it,
examine and find out the reasons you can start it again after getting rid
of the breakdown.

6.3.3 If you want to change the direction of the escalator, you must be
waiting until the escalator has stopped and then operate the key switch to
change the direction.

6.3.4 After the escalator starts the movement, operator should notice the
circumstance at any time. If discovering abnormal phenomenon, shut down and
solve the problem on time.

6.3.5 When examining and fixing the escalator, you should place a warning
card to keep passenger from nearing to or pass the facilities( such as
column pole).

6.3.6 If the escalator stops carrying for more than 4 hours, you should cut off the main
power switch.

7. Maintenance
The escalator must specially assign a person to be responsible for
maintaining and taking care of it, and he must get the basic knowledge
training about the usage of the escalator.
7.1 safety principle
7.1.1 Establish safe column and a marker with " escalator being
maintained".

7.1.2 Cut off the total switch in power, and pin up on the switch" fixing,
forbid to turn on ".

7.1.3 If the steps to be fixed have been dismantled from the escalator,
allow only to operate the examined part, prohibit to stand on the steps.

7.1.4 Prohibit to carry the bulky products with the escalator.

7.1.5 When maintenance is over, clean the inside of the escalator.

7.2 MAINTENANCE OPERATION FEATURES


Convert the switch places for the “fixing" position in the engine room,
insert the plug that controls the device, then can order to move top and
bottom line by hand. You must wait until it has stops before you can
operate to convert the direction.
7.3 The maintenance of the electricity system
7.3.1 Examine each conjunction of the circuit, and fix on time if
necessary.

7.3.2 Usually tidy up the touching head of the electric appliances, be


sure to make the circuit normally work.

7.3.3 Periodically Examine each protection equipment of the circuit,


regulate on time.

7.3.4 According to requests the circuit, usually examine and regulate each
parts of the electricity to keep it working normally.

7.4 Maintenance of the mainframe


7.4.1 After a month of running the escalator, you need to check the oil
measure of the deceleration box once. When the oil level is lower than the

half, you should add just the right amount of gear oil.( use gear oil 22in
winter, use gear oil 28 in summer)

7.4.2 Inspect the engine room once before work. wipe the waste oil ,
replenish lubricant, and see whether the vibration is normal, whether the
action of the driving machine is intelligent and dependable, whether the
driving distance is qualified, whether the driving belt needs to replace,
and whether the temperature of lubricant, electrical engineering and the
wire of the driving machine are normal. If there is something abnormal,
shut down immediately. Find out the reason, get rid of the breakdown and
then get into use again.

7.4.3 Replace the lubricant of the deceleration box every time the
escalator is fixed on a large scale. Add the calcium lubricant fat for the
rolling axis once a month and change for a new one once a year

7.5 Maintenance of all the driving chains.


7.5.1 Add the lubricant to all the chains each time maintaining.

7.5.2 If you find the chain loose or over tight, you must adjust it.

7.6 Comb teeth panel


When there are two neighboring comb teeth broken, you should replace them on
time to insure the safety of the passengers.
7.7 Steps
7.7.1 The friction of the decorating steps, the leading glide parts and the
rolling wheels has lost a lot after years of revolving regularly, you should
replace them on time.

7.7.2 Packing and dismantling the steps can be proceeded at the turn of
the lower parts of the steps.

7.8 Arm-rest system


7.8.1 When the arm-rest tape becomes loose or slippery, you should adjust
the device to tighten the arm-rest.

7.8.2 If the arm-rest pulley which is used to prevent the wheels declining
is loose to one part, tighten it at once.

7.9 The dependable adjustment in switch of the safe protection

7.10 Cleaning and maintenance of the escalator
7.10.1 Cleaning of the step guide rails

7.10.2 Cleaning of the arm-rest belts

7.10.3 Cleaning the arm-rest glass 、covering panels 、apron panel、arm-rest


supporting shelf regularly.

7.10.4 Weed out the dust of the step pedal and the front panel with cleaning machine.

7.10.5 Weed out the dust of the top and bottom engine rooms according to the
quantity of the discharging.

7.11 Examination and fixing regularly


7.11.1 Overhaul: period : three years, adjust and cleaning all spare parts
and replace the damaged spare parts, according to the acceptance standard
of the products.

7.11.2 General fixing: Period: half a year

a) Examination of safety control circulation

b) Increase or exchange of lubricant of the decelerating box.

c) Adjustment the tension of spring coil of the step chains

d) Adjustment the tension of the arm-rest belts

e) Adjustment the double pulling chains

f) Adjustment of the arm-rest double chains

g) Adjustment of the ability of driving

h) Adjustment of the devices of each safety protects

7.11.3 The small fixing: Period: once a month

a) Examine whether there is unusual vibration and sounds in the


driving mainframe and whether the oil level is normal.

b) Examine the tight dint of the driving chain ,lubricating


circumstance and rivet joint of the double row pulling chain.

c) Examine whether the comb teeth is damaged.

d) Examine whether the central wheel ,the by-wheel and the lock circle
is damaged and loosened.

e) Examine the function of the ceasing button of the electricity


system, and the function of the machine pieces.

7.11.4 Maintain by the day


Clearance garbage and dust everywhere . Examine whether the comb teeth

is damaged, whether the oil level is normal and whether the spare parts are
damaged.

Part II Electrical

1. Electrical principle of escalator


In the top and bottom engine room of the escalator, there is a line
box and a control box with an urgent stop switch and converting switch and
outlet of examination and fixing on them. On the control box there is the
main power switch. On the arm-rest covering panel of the escalator, there
are key switches, urgent stop switches and the display of breakdown. At
normal movement, you should place the main power switch as " ON", and the
switch of examination and fixing should be placed in" normal" position.
When all the safe switches are all normal, the operator turns on the key
switch at heading up( or get down), at this time the bell rings to warn the
passengers to notice, then the key switch returns, and the bell stops
ringing, the PC machine outputs the signal to make the KZD, KS heading up(
the KX heading down) to drive the touching machine, the star polygon of
KQD, the escalator starts to head up, soon afterward the KQD releases, the
KYX triangle touching machine closes, and the escalator runs normally.

2. Examination & repairing principle of escalator


Turn on the converting switch on the top of the control cabinet, the
escalator is in the state of examination and repairing. At this time, the
escalator will not run normally. When all the safe switches are all normal,
insert the plug into the electric outlet, press the upward or downward

buttons on the front-panel, and then the escalator can run., In the same
words, when place the converting switch on the line box in the ‘Examination
and repairing’ position, escalator will be in the state of Examination and
repairing, this time, escalator can't move normally. Please note: When the
converting switches on the control cabinet and the line box both place in
the ‘Examination and repairing’ position at the same time, neither can the
escalator be examined and repaired , nor can it run normally.

3. Lighting Power Supply


3.1. Top segment, bottom segment of the steps illumination
In the transition of the top segment, bottom segment of the steps and
the curve block, the steps are in the change of forming and disappearing,
the passenger's feet will step in two steps, and something dangerous will
usually happen. In order to avoid the occurrence of the above circumstance,
at last, two fluorescent lamps are fixed underneath the top and the bottom
segments of the steps, making the passengers see the light and adjust their
standing place on time, which will insure the safety of the passengers.

3.2 The safety illumination


In both the top and bottom engine rooms of the escalator, there are safe lights of
AC36V. there are also the outlets of AC36V, AC220V on the control cabinet of the top
segment and on the line box of the bottom segment, providing the power supply for
lighting and examination and repairing.

4. safety rules of escalator


4.1 Safe switch in exit and entrance of arm-rest belt
There are safe switches in exit and entrance on the both ends of the
arm-rest belt, if there is something clip tightly in the exit and entrance
of the arm-rest belt, safe switch will go off and cut off the safe circuit,
and the escalator stop moving.

4.2 Safe switches between the steps and the apron panel
There are safe switches between the steps and the apron panel in both
sides of the lower part and upper part of the escalator. When the escalator
is at normal movement, the apron panel keeps certain cleft with the steps,
the single side is 3.5 millimeters, both sides add up to 7 millimeters. For
guaranteeing the safety of the passengers, we fix C shape steel in the
reverse side of the apron panel and a safe switch at the certain distance
of the C shape steel. When something enters the cleft of the step and the
blind side of the apron panel, apron panel is deformed, and the C shape
steel also moves immediately. When it moves to a certain position, it will
touch the safe switch Immediately the safe switch acts, cutting off the
safe circuit, and the escalator stops moving.

4.3 Safe switch of the driving chain breaking
There is a safe switch of the driving chain breaking on the upper
segment of the escalator. When the driving chains breaks or over long, it
will touch the safe switch, and the safe switch acts, cutting off the safe
circuit. At the same time the electromagnet absorbs to close, arousing the
thorn claw equipment, making the thorn claw hold tightly the chain, and
then the escalator stops moving.( this protection equipment uses only in
promoting the high degree larger than 6 metres and the public
transportation type escalator.)

4.4 Safe switch of the step chain breaking


There are safe switches of the step chain breaking on the both sides
of the engine room in the lower part of the escalator. When the step chain
is worn out or over long for some other reasons, it will touch the safe
switch, and the safe switch acts, cutting off the safe circuit, and then
the escalator stops moving.

4.5 Safe switch of the comb teeth


There are safe switches of the comb teeth on the both sides of the
escalator, which is fixed in the front of the leaning piece beneath the
comb teeth panel.When the passenger's umbrella tip, high-heeled shoes or
other things fall into the comb teeth, the comb teeth panel moves forward.
When it moves to the certain distance, the leaning piece beneath the comb
teeth panel bumps the safe switch, and the safe switch acts, cutting off
the safe circuit, and then the escalator stops moving.

4.6 Safe switches of the steps sinking


There are safe switches in the curve segments each in the upper and
lower part of the steps of the escalator. And there is an angle shape piece
on the vice- axle of the steps, and a pole on the metals construction
connected with a 6 square axle The safe switch is right under the 6 square
axle. When the steps are damaged and sinks, the angle form piece will hit
the pole, and the six square axle turns to touch the safe switch
immediately, so the safe switch acts, cutting off the safe circuit, and
then the escalator stops moving.

4.7 Safe switches of the arm-rest belt breaking


There is a safe switch of the arm-rest belt breaking under the escalator
segment. When the arm-rest belt break at movement, the safe switch will
act, cutting off the safe circuit, and the escalator will stop moving.
While appearing above breakdowns, examine and repair according to the
manifestation of the breakdown codes. Breakdown codes shows in the form of
breakdown in details.

4.8 Sensor of speed


4.8.1 Theory for speed sensor
4.8.1.1 There are two speed-measuring screws on main chain sheave and a closing-to
switch beside it to monitor operation status of main chain sheave, its output wire leading
to X0 on PC.

4.8.1.2 The interval is 07s for passing one speed-measuring screw under normal
operation.

4.8.1.3 The interval become longer at lower speed, if the actual interval exceeds 120
percent normal interval(0.84s), the output will be cut off and kept by PC to stop motor
and make escalator stop too and the bell ring for 1s at 2s intervals lasting for16s, by this

means to alarm workers. Restarting it need turn on power again or by pushing the stop
button for 1s.

4.8.1.4 The interval become shorter at over speed, if the actual interval less than 80
percent normal interval(0.56s), the output will be cut off and kept by PC to stop motor
and make escalator stop too and bell ring for 1s at 2s intervals lasting for16s, by this
means to alarm workers. Restarting it need turn on power again or by pushing the stop
button for 1s.

4.8.1.5 Realization of protection for unintentional reversal of direction

The escalator must stop firstly before the running direction can be
changed under normal operation, at this time the escalator shall run at
under-speed, the output will be cut off and kept by PC to stop motor and make
escalator stop too and the bell ring for 1s at 2s intervals lasting for16s, by this means to
alarm workers. Restarting it need turn on power again or by pushing the stop button for
1s.

4.8.1.6 The over-speed and under-speed function will be invalid under


maintenance condition. The speed-measuring device will function when motor
entering trigonal running status under normal operation.

4.8.1.7 If there is not signal or dithering signal due to failure of the


closing to switch, it will make escalator stop. To make the escalator run
need to turn down the key switch for at least 15s,and the speed-measuring
device will stop automatically. To restore the speed-measuring device need
to turn up the key switch for at least 15s after the closing to switch
being replaced.

4.8.2 Testing method of speed-measuring device at site

4.8.2.1 Under-speed: remove output wire of the closing-to switch of


terminal 11 on the controller, the output will be cut off and kept by PLC system
under under-speed condition to stop the escalator after the normal running

have changed into trigonal running status for 0.9s.

4.8.2.2 Over-speed: Connect terminal 0V of controller with one end of a


wire to start escalator until the motor entering trigonal running status,
and contact terminal 11 with another end of the wire with a frequency of
0.54s at every time, then the output will be cut off and kept by PLC system under
over-speed condition to stop the escalator.

Note: Take the test under both over-speed and under-speed conditions in
consideration of safety.

4.9 There is a red urgent stop switch in the upper and lower part apron panel and
also the control cabinet and line box of the engine rooms. When meeting the urgent
circumstances, press the urgent stop switch, you can immediately park the car.

5 Main Power Supply


5.1 The function of filling oil automatically
When the escalator circulates for 12 hours, the device will fill the
oil automatically for 300 seconds and then stops.

5.2 The function of filling oil by hand


When the escalator demands oil, you can also fill the oil by hand in
addition to filling oil automatically. At that time, the escalator must be
at movement. You must turn on the key switch for 6 seconds and stops after
the device works for 300 seconds
