Teaching philosophy “is a self -reflective statement of your beliefs about teaching and learning” [

CITATION Joh20 \l 1033 ].

All around the world, there is a teacher that changes someone’s life, I want to be that person who
changes the idea or belief of anyone that does not like learning. Teaching in school should be
different and unique that inspires the student to attend school and learn. In this essay, I will
discuss my beliefs on the student, learning and teaching, assessment, and professional
development plan.

My belief is to provide a learning style like visual, auditory, kinesthetic, read, and write in the
lesson. Because every student learns with different learning styles, focusing on one will not
going to impact all students to be engaged, somehow I try to use most of the learning style which
will raise the comprehends skills in a learner. For example, while I am teaching, I use a video at
the beginning of the class and I let students search and take materials or play activity with
moving around the classroom, and I let students read and write in the activity.

In addition, my belief is in the print-rich environment. Because students are set in the classroom
for a minimum of 6 hours and they are looking to the wall, if I had a rich environment student
will learn from the pictures and memorize words that will stick to their mind more, even if they
struggle with spelling the word or write the wrong letter, they can search and found the right one,
which will strength their cognitive skills. For instance, a student in the classroom always mixes
between the numbers 6 and 9 so whenever they need it they look to the number wall and write it
correctly.

Classroom organization is also a key concept to consider when teaching. Unorganized classroom
or set up distract the student. I belief that children need to learn actively. I believe in teaching
content that is meaningful. Children learn effectively when they are interested in. Also, when
they have their own choices. Implement group work it is one of my strategies. Group work can
be an effective method to motivate students. Also, promotes a setting where collaboration and
cooperation are valued and produce better results. Reflective teaching is an amazing tool that I
always use to observe and evaluate the way I behave in their classroom. It can be both a personal
process as well as one that you discuss with colleagues. When I collect, information regarding
what went on in my classroom and take the time to analyze it from a distance, I can identify
more than just what worked and what didn’t. I will be able to look at the underlying principles
and beliefs that define the way that I work. Reflective teaching that comes from peer observation
allows me to identify a variety of different aspects of my lessons, such as the organization of the
lesson, teacher’s time management, students’ performance on tasks, time-on-task, and teacher
questions and student responses.

My belief that teachers should include play. According to Kenneth he state that “Play is essential
to children's social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development”[ CITATION Ken07 \l 1033 ].
Play allows children to create and explore a world they can master. Through play, a child's
creativity, physical and cognitive abilities are refined and strengthened. Play will help children
become self-efficient problem solvers. Because during play children create and solve their own
problems. When a child is asked to solve an academic or real-life problem, they will be able to
use the skills that they practice during play to find a solution.
Using play as a tool to teach in the early and primary childhood classroom will bring a holistic
approach to the content and will help develop every part of each child. Play enhance language
and cultural development. For example, as an English teacher for Grade1. Instead of teaching
colors in an official way. I can convert the lesson from a boring lesson to an enjoyable activity.
Such as using song and videos.

Learning in teaching should have techniques that contribute to students’ comprehension. My

belief as a teacher, I would like to use the Gradual Release Model in each lesson, this process
includes I do, We do, You do. This allows the teacher to model first and shows a student how to
make the procedure or the concept, then teacher and student collaborate, and last is where the
student work individually without teacher support.

Furthermore, my belief is students must have a stimulating learning environment to help students
physically, mentally and socially. For example, students need a safe environment and good
educational opportunities like providing for them, in class technology like computers. According
to Maria “incorporating new technologies into lessons”[ CITATION Mar132 \l 1033 ]. Students need
to have technology during their learning in the classroom it help them and improve their skills by
practicing by using technology. A positive environment an important part of my educational
philosophy is classroom management. Help students if they face problems and deal with students
positively and give them a chance to feel confident. Also, the classroom must have cooperation
and mutual respect to feel safe and work effectively with each other.

Although, positive classroom management it’s important for teacher and students, so the teacher
should motivate students in a positive way like reword the students who are following the rules
and excellent in the classroom, Also punish the students who have negative behaviors.
According to Skinner ”He believed the best way to understand behavior is to look at the causes
and consequence”[ CITATION Sau18 \l 1033 ]. The positive and negative reinforcement strategy will
help the teacher to have a positive environment in the classroom and increase learner’s behaviors
to be active.

Assessment is the most essential area in teaching competency, as it shows the students’
understanding. My belief is to provide a formative assessment in each lesson. A formative
assessment used during the lesson by questioning, draw a mind map of any topic, writing
sentences to identify main points. This strategy will allow the teacher to help the student to
figure out the weaknesses and strengthens. Also, it will show where a student finds a struggle.

The purpose of teaching philosophy helps us set goals for professional growth in teaching and
provide evidence of your teaching effectiveness and help us to achieve the goals.

To conclude, my philosophy is one that aims to give all students an equal opportunity to learn by
promoting intellectual variety in the various ways it shows my self in academia. It is through my
respect for intellectual diversity that I conduct myself in a professional manner to create a
positive learning environment where students can develop their critical thinking skills. And the
key to my philosophy rests on the idea that I must set high standards for students and for myself.
I must lead by example for my students as my mentors did for me. And showing my beliefs on
the student, learning and teaching, assessment, and professional development plan will improve
the students’ skills and develop the learners’ at a higher level.
