Assignment: (Week 3-4) Essay 250 – 300 words

There’s a huge difference between Pre-Mechanical Age and in today’s age, so called Electronic
Age where in Pre-Mechanical Age, there were no phones, gadgets or any trace of social media. Can you
imagine not being around or not being able to talk to your friends and loved one late at night? That’s the
main difference between them. As Pre-Mechanical Age, there were no kinds of computer systems.

But as far as I can tell, since first humans communicated only through speaking and picture
drawings like Phonetic Alphabet created by Phoenicians and other systems that invented by Ancient
Greeks, Sumerians, Chinese, Hindus and Egyptians, it is not easy for them to communicate and collect or
gather information that made me think, lot of people there have a 100 IQ compare in today’s age, were all
of the information can easily find in internet and knowledge can be steal from anyone. Thus, the people in
Pre-Mechanical Age were using their brain 24 hours just to communicate and gather information using
papers and pen as input technologies. I think their mind is always busy thinking and working hard which
means according to science, when we exercise brain, our brain much more active. It releasing endorphins
that make us happy and not make us stress or depress. And if a person is not depressed, it means a person
can do all the things and be productive every day and create more idea. That’s what I observed, because
in today’s age, lot of people are depressed, as stated in the data that released in September 10, 2020,
Philippines has consistently ranked in the Top 5 of hotline calls regarding depression according to
W.H.O. Therefore, if you are depressed, you are concentrating awfully, can’t remember details and make
decisions. You can’t be productive, give ideas to anyone, or you are busy watching Netflix or spending
most of your time playing games as your coping mechanisms. That’s why I think people in Pre-
Mechanical Age are more intelligent than today’s age. It feels odd but if you think of it, Romans gave
letters Latin names to create the alphabet we use today. I can say, if they didn’t start it, we wouldn’t
continue it and we don’t have what we have now.
