Activity #3

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
Title of the Novel

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is a fantasy novel for
children that written by Oxford University professor C.S Lewis and part of the Chronicles
of Narnia series. It is published by Geoffrey Bles in 1950. It is the first published and best
known of seven novels in The Chronicles of Narnia (1950-1956). The novel is the best-
selling and has been translated into 47 languages. On the other hand, The Lion, The
Witch and The Wardrobe has been made into a film by Disney. The Chronicles of Narnia
is the best book because it is beautiful theological symbolism which portrayed the life,
the ultimate sacrifice of death, and resurrection.

It tells the tale of four siblings Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy Pevensie; who leave for
the English countryside during air aids in London during World War II. They stay at the
large house of a professor. While they are playing hide and seek Lucy finds a wardrobe
that leads her to a magical world called Narnia. Narnia is a land blanketed with snow and
ice, inhabited by mystical and magical creatures Narnia has been fallen under the spell of
the White Witch, who proclaimed itself as the queen of Narnia. Lucy who tells her
brothers but they don’t believe her, goes back on a night she can’t sleep, this time
followed by her brother Edmund. Edmund is found by the White Witch along in the
woods who treats him kindly and makes him promise to return with his siblings but the
queen negotiated to Edmund before she back to its siblings, he needs to tell her where is
the King Aslan.

Peter, Susan and Lucy start their mission to find King Aslan, who has came back to
Narnia to help their quest to defeat the White Witch and to retrieved Edmund back
to them. King Aslan is a giant talking Lion who originally created Narnia and many
times is compared to God. Finally they defeat the White Witch, and restore peace in
Narnia.

I really enjoy the reading the book because it enlightens the readers because of
Theological symbolism. C.S Lewis has an outstanding ability to write just enough
to give the reader a description of the setting, scene and characters and leave the rest to readers
imagination, and behind everything it leaves a message according to Pullman, “death is better
than life” . I highly recommend this first book and other seven books with 13 years old and
above which is the price of the book is 812 pesos. I’m sure there is lot of imagination they will
see if they read it or watch it.

Subject Teacher

Dear Ma’am Glendle Lunar,

I’m Reylene Grace A. Loyola from ICT-1203 I’ll send you this letter to accomplish the letter
writing activity for the subject that you handle English for Academic and Professional Purposes.

I recommending to you Ma’am the novel The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the
Wardrobe written by C.S Lewis. It is excellent literature with such amazing characterization,
plotting, pacing, dialogue, humor, and at least a dozen other things. But I want to highlight what I
believe why this this novel is need to be read because it is most well-done thing which is
beautiful theological symbolism throughout all seven books. That’s right all seven. But I want to
recommend the first one because the author intended the story to be a thinly veiled retelling of the
life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

I hope Ma’am that you will read this novel. And I’m grateful for your guidance and teaching us
about the subject. Your support has meant so much to us.

Sincerely,

Reylene Grace Loyola
