The Article “Editorial: Social-media lies Feed Real-life violence, injustice”, written in

The Columbus Dispatch is about how the media has turned people’s views and have been

misleading the general public. This has been leading to violence in real-life in this article they

talk about how the Columbus Division of police had made posts that “subjected people involved

to harassment” by posting information that was misleading to the public. People need to become

more aware of things happening in their community and not take everything said to them as fact

instead need to take some time to research what is happening.

This article shows us how it is important to not take everything on the internet as fact. We

need to do our own research to make sure things that we see are actually factual. If we do not

this, we create a world where like in the article can be mislead and make it to where many people

can incite violence. The public needs to make sure they get their news from reliable sources

because now a day there are many different people who claim to be reliable and unbiased

sources, but this is really a lie many of these sources are spreading fake news.

I understand how its hard to find a source that is reliable and its hard to know what is true

or not now a days. This is due to the amount of people posting opposing stories and this makes it

hard to differentiate fact from fiction. I know that it is tempting for people to try to use their

social medias to obtain their news, but this is not a good reliable source of information. People

should instead use more trusted sources such as NPR which does its best to be unbiased and tries

to get you the most factual news.

People should also not be afraid to hear different sides of the argument because if you do

not you will never truly understand the reasons for arguing for different things. People if they

look at both sides of the argument will also become smarter and more well rounded this will

make it to where they can better understand what is going on in our world. You can get news

from different sides of the aisle reliable news sources that you could use are ones like CNN and

Fox News. I know these sources are biased, but this will help show you their different mindsets

and also allow you to get a better understanding of what they believe.

Misleading information can bring people to incite violence and not understand why or

what there doing it for. We the people need to hold ourselves responsible to find out what

information is fake and, need to find better more reliable sources of information. We cant just get

on social media and see things people post and take it as fact right away this will make it to

where most people will be misinformed on what is happening.
