Justification Production stage

Apart from that, in the production stage, the teacher will assess the pupils’ understanding by
asking them to label the body parts of the teddy bears. The teacher uses the teddy bears as the
one of the materials in this stage to attract the pupils’ attention and interest towards the lesson.
It is compulsory to keep the pupils’ passion until the end of the lesson. By using this kind of
material, the teacher can evaluate the understanding of the pupils through interesting and fun
activity. As we know, most of the teachers will use or focus on written assessment for the
production stage. Normally, in the production stage, the teacher will provide the worksheets and
written assessment to be done by the pupils in order to evaluate their knowledge and
understanding. However, our group will use different kind of assessment for this stage. So, we
have decided to use task-based approach and will ask the pupils to work as a group to complete
the task. This is because it will provide opportunities for the pupils to learn and explore language
through fun learning activities which are designed to engage pupils in the practical and
functional use of the language. In this assessment, the pupils are encouraged to use creatively
and spontaneously by completing tasks and solving the problem. In this stage, each group is
given a teddy bear and a set of sticky notes and the teacher will mention the body parts of the
teddy bear to the pupils. The pupils need to spell the words on the sticky notes and paste them
on the parts of the teddy bear’s body. All the pupils must work in a group to finish this task.
Indirectly, they will think critically and will collaborate as a group in order to complete this
assessment. Other than that, this activity is very suitable for the year 2 pupils because it is
relatable to the multisensory activities such as sight, hearing and touch. We should know that
the pupils learn in a variety of ways and it is important to have multisensory activities like this to
be carried out so that they can engage each and every sense. In this activity, the pupils need to
listen attentively using their hearing sense and need to paste the sticky notes on the teddy bear
using sight and touch senses. For example, by using sight, learning language will be more
effective if we use images or actual object in front of our eyes and by using hearing sense, it can
encourage and improve pupils’ confidence. Multisensory environments will definitely help to
improve the development of thought, concentration and their creativity. As a result, it will assist
the pupils grow and have positive development in the future.
