Professional Development Plan

Plan to Reach the Goal (i.e., professional

development, research on the Internet,
Short-Term Goal
observation of a veteran teacher, etc.)

1. Improve my Class Time Management.  I will be creating power points to stay on

task during task delivery and provide
students a visual.

 I will be setting timely reminders on my

fit bit watches to remind me to be
mindful of how long each part of the
lesson is taking.

 I will have students set goals that

mention what the objectives are each
day and what their goal is to learn. Our
school emphasizes the idea of self-
directed learning. Which has shown to
improve student achievement.

“Regardless of the levels of pre-university

mathematics, high achievers exercised more SRL
(Self-Regulated Learning) than low achievers,”
(Tang, 2013, p. 44).

2. Improve the emphasis of math  Create a word wall (Bulletin board) for
vocabulary. each math class.

 Have students define terms as a math

“warm up”

 Create vocabulary games for students to

participate in.

Successful teachers of content vocabulary had

traits such as a commitment to vocabulary
development in terms of planning and class time.
They have to be willing to experiment with a
variety of instructional approaches and to adapt
needed (Kucan, et. Al, 2007).

3. Change to provide more efficient and I was individually correcting and responding to
effective feedback for students. each problem within each assignment; however,
students didn’t use that feedback to improve
their learning. My mentor actually corrects the
Professional Development Plan
assignments in class.

 I will be utilizing this technique for the

second unit and will be answering
questions in class. This will save me time
correcting assignments and give me
more time towards planning activities.
