Case-1
Solution:
The “COVID-19” situation is very challenging for business firms. Throughout the world we have
seen business firms to get shut down. We have seen employees are being sacked for reducing
operational expenses. As a HR professional I would like to develop a salary structure where the
employees will be compensated according to necessity rather than luxury because it is a tough
situation to deal. We have seen many big MNC’s top level employees sacrificed their 70% of
their salary for the subordinates. If a proper salary structure can be developed according to
necessity than the operational expenses will reduce and the firm will not have to lay off
employees.
For HR audits the methods I am going to follow is discusses below:
Audit of Corporate Strategy: As we have developed a new salary structure without laying off
employees it will give a competitive advantage and we will earn employee’s loyalty because they
will see their friends from other firms are jobless in this crisis but they have theirs. We have also
planned to for health insurance for our employees.
Audit of the Human Resource Function: An evaluation will be conducted to identify whether
the HIRS, staffing & development are in a good situation. We will control the labor-
management relations and adapt performance appraisals methods for evaluation.
Audit of Managerial Compliance: We will make sure that the employees are compensated
properly and no labor laws are violated. For safety we will provide all the necessary things that
are needed such as Masks, Gloves, Sanitizers and the whole space will be disinfected by our
cleaners 4 times a day which mean every two hours of working time.
Audit of Employee Satisfaction: Keeping employees satisfied is very important because they
are like blood if we consider the firm as a human body. We will try our best to provide the
benefits they need. We have health insurance for our employees, medical allowances for
employees and their families. All the employees will be tested for COVID-19 along with their
family members and the company will bear these expenses. If any employee gets affected he will
earn paid leave until he recovers.
Case-2
Solution:
The problems that are visible in the case are Cultural problems, late HR Involvement, Poor HR
strategy. For solving these issues, the mergers companies should be evaluated according to their
employee’s cultural characteristics because it is very important for mergers to work in a harmony
it is seen that the employees of the parent company dominate the employees of the company
which is acquired. Thus, dissatisfaction arises. For poor HR strategy the problems raised a
company cannot run without employees. Orientations and rules and regulations should have been
discussed before the operations. By this the problems could have been solved.
