- INTRODUCTION -
This MENTAL SKILLS TRAINING program allows players to achieve the maximum
potential that their physical and technical training will allow. MENTAL SKILLS
TRAINING helps remove barriers to a player achieving a peak performance. MENTAL
SKILLS TRAINING cannot replace your physical and technical training, but it can help
give you a performance edge!
Mental skills are just like physical skills and technical skills in that you have to work on
them and the more you understand and practice them the better you get.
We will work on MENTAL SKILLS TRAINING through discussion, keeping records and
journals, taking assessment surveys, practicing skills through activities and utilizing them
in practice and game situations.
Controlling the mental aspects of your performance is just like working on the physical or
technical parts of hockey; you will get out of it what you put into it and the more you
practice, the better you get! During this learning process, it’s important to build a solid
foundation in the beginning and then continue to develop and refine the skills and
strategies throughout the year. MENTAL SKILLS TRAINING is a life long learning
opportunity and a set of skills you can use throughout your life.

full potential as a hockey player you have to start training your mind as well as your body.
