Draft A (2014-01-23)
Compared with Issue 01 (2013-05-06) of GBSS15.0, Draft A (2014-01-23) of GBSS16.0
includes the following change.
2 Overview
2.1 Introduction
BTS Power Management provides hierarchical power-off and protection against abnormal
voltage, which enhance the power management and self-protection of the BTS. This improves
the reliability of the system and prolongs the service life of the product. With the BTS Power
Management feature, the BTS reliability and Quality of Service (QoS) are improved. In
addition, this feature also reduces OPEX for the BTS, thereby increasing operators' profit.

Management
NOTE
√ indicates that the NE supports this feature. × indicates that the NE does not support this feature.
3 Technical Description
The BTS provides the hierarchical power-off function to reduce the power consumption of the
BTS equipment and therefore extend the discharge time of batteries when the mains supply is
unavailable. The function also prevents batteries from over-discharging.
In addition, the BTS automatically powers off the Power Amplifiers (PAs) of some TRXs to
reduce heat consumption in severe working environments, such as when the temperature in
the BTS cabinet exceeds the thresholds or when the Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR)
far exceeds the limits.
If a TRX is shut down to prolong the battery discharge time, the TRX becomes blocked. In this situation,
you cannot manually unblock the TRX.
If the mains supply for the BTS recovers, the TRX automatically becomes unblocked.
NOTE
Before setting parameters for load power-off and battery power-off upon low voltage on a GBTS, enable
the switch CFGFLAG (BSC6900, BSC6910) and HPVFLAG (BSC6900, BSC6910), which determines
availability of parameter settings.
NOTE
Before setting parameters for load power-off and battery power-off upon high temperature on a GBTS,
enable the switch CFGFLAG (BSC6900, BSC6910), which determines availability of parameter
settings.
