THE MAIN IDEA OF THE DESIGN FOR THE TANJUNG MALIM INTERPRETIVE CENTER IS BASED ON THE LARGER GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION OF THE TOWN IN RELATION TO THE MAJOR HIGHWAYS
AND RAILWAY. TANJUNG MALIM WAS FOUNDED BECAUSE OF ITS LOCATION TO THE OLD HIGHWAY AND THE RAILWAY SYSTEM. THE TOWN USED TO BE ONE OF THE MAJOR GATEWAYS BETWEEN
THE 2 STATES, SELANGOR AND PERAK BUT DUE TO THE COMPLETION OF THE NEWER HIGHWAY CALLED ASIAN HIGHWAY 2. MORE PEOPLE STARTED TO USE THE ASIAN HIGHWAY 2 INSTEAD
BECAUSE IT WAS NEWER AND A MORE DIRECT ROUTE TO THE NORTHERN STATES. THIS MADE TANJUNG MALIM A RARELY USED PITSTOP WHICH LED TO ITS DECLINE TO THIS DAY. THE IDEA OF
THIS BUILDING WAS TO CREATE A PHYSICAL REPRESENTATION OF THE LARGER SITE AS A SYMBOL OF THE HISTORY THAT CAUSED THE DECLINE OF TANJUNG MALIM.

TREES WILL BE ADDED AT THE ENTRANCE OF THE BUILDING TO EAST THERE ARE ROADS WITH TRAFFIC. ADDING PLANTS,
THE 2 MASSING. GROUND AND TO CREATE A TUNNEL FOR THE CENTRE PROVIDE SHADE AND TO BLOCK NOISE FROM THE VEHICLES. REDUCING OPENINGS AND WINDOWS WILL HELP DISSIPATE THE
