Guidelines of User Interface Design
Heuristic evaluation (Nielsen and Molich, 1990; Nielsen 1994) is a usability engineering
method for finding the usability problems in a user interface design so that they can be
attended to as part of an iterative design process.

Ms Teams

Microsoft Teams is a persistent chat-based collaboration platform complete with document


sharing, online meetings, and many more extremely useful features for business
communications. 

Guidelines In Ms Teams

(1)Visibility of system Status


Yes! the visibility in ms teams is clear to the user .The systems tells the no of participants in a
meeting. Or internet quality it also tells the status of file uploading in terms of percentage.
(2)Match between System and Real World
Ms teams is used by technical and non technical persons so icons are similar as in real world
if the user want to join meeting he can easily understand by seeing meeting icon. The other
icons are also used to provide ease to the user such as call icon to make a call, chat icon to
chat with your team mates.

(3)User Control and Freedom


In ms teams the user have full access to give access to other participants or take actions or
you can undo your actions. The user can upload file than delete it from channel, add
participants in meeting or kick out the user fully control their actions.

(4)Consistency or standards

Ms teams never confuse his users .It follow standards and consistency in ms
teams. Consistency and standards means alignment of elements in the same
manner. The search and side bar is fixed in every page.
(5)Error Prevention

Ms teams follow this guideline and prevent the user from error. Ms teams
prevent the error by using dialog box you want to do this action on not. If the
user want to leave the team it shows dialog boxes to prevent from error.

(6)Recognition rather than recall


The main motive of this guideline is to keep load on memory minimum. It uses
filters if you want to search for classes specifically, teams etc rather than to
search all results .

(7)Flexibility and efficiency of use

Flexibility means work done by different ways and efficiency is proportional to


time in ms teams user want to see assignment status the user may watch it
through related subject or using assignment button in side bar.
(8)Aesthetic And minimalist Design

There is no additional and irrelevant information ms teams all only options are
provided. The design is very simple t provide ease to the user.

(9)Help users recognize, diagnose and recover from errors


Ms teams give suggestion to solve error if the user type the wrong spelling ms
teams give result closely to typed keyword. It also show errors in simple
language.

(10)Help and documentation

The help and document is fully categorized into different sections if the user
have problem in meeting he click on join a meeting or if want to know want to
watch videos they are also available.
