In place of normal SMB scan to folder you can use FTP and achieve the same results using

FileZilla as a work
around. Before starting the install-process ensure that the machines that are being used do not have available firmware
updates that can make the machine compatible with SMB v2 or v3.

Start by downloading the FileZilla Server from:

https://filezilla-project.org/

• Download the FileZilla Server application.

• Click the download now button and choose to Run button on the installer after the download has
completed.

• Leave the default selections as they are and click next for components and location.

• Leave “Install as service, started with windows” selected and “Start if user logs on, to all users”
**Make note that the port 14147 is added, this is used to connect to the admin interface.**
• Click next on both and the installation will be complete, close the installer after these steps.

• After the install, FileZilla will open to the


interface. Note the host is localhost or
127.0.0.1, the port is 14147. Leave the
password blank, this will be set up later.
• Choose (connect).

• After we have connected are next step is to set up the server.

• Choose EDIT and go to Settings.

• Under General settings, notice


that by default the port is set to 21
for FTP.

place a check mark next to
Start Minimized. So that uses

• Go to Admin Interface Settings on


the left. From here you be able to
select the change admin password
and create your new password to
login.

• Recommend setting the password


to {Scanner} so that anyone will be
able to log in for trouble shooting if
necessary.

• The next option under Logging on


the left will enable logging for
security. Put check mark next to
(Enable Logging File) then also next
to “Use a different logfile each
day”.

• The last option in this screen is
Autoban. Click (Enable
automatic bans) for security
this will block unauthorized
access after 10 failed attempts.
Blocks are only 1 hour by
default.

• The next step is to create base settings for all users.

• Choose Edit and Groups from the


menu bar. Here you will set up the
parent group.

• On the General tab, choose Add and create


your parent group. As shown below, title the
group as needed. The example here is
[Scans] and press OK.

• Ensure that for group settings, the (Enable


access for users inside group) is checked.

*Next choose (Shared Folders) and click on
add to choose the desired folder that your
scans should be sent to.

• Here we select the (FTP Scan) in our


example.

• After selecting the file that you


want scans to go to, place a check
next to all their permissions to
ensure there are no issues with
creating the scans. Then Press OK.

• Once again go to (Edit) and this time


choose (Users).

• Under the General tab, here you will
choose (Add) to create your users.
• By Default, all permission of the
parent account are already selected.

• For the Example (Scanner) is the


user, then also choose the group
that was created earlier, (Scans) by
selecting the down arrow.

• Next go to Shared Folders and add


the file that you want to scan too.

• Scroll to and choose the folder then


press OK

• Check all the permissions for this
location as well.

• You have now set up FileZilla Server and have created the users accounts for scanning.
• Next you will need to ensure that Port 21 is open for FTP from the IP address of the Scanner that you intend
to use.
• Once you have whitelisted that address, you will have to add the destination to the MFP.

• Ensure that you choose FTP and enter port 21


• For the Server name enter the computer’s IP address where FileZilla is installed.
• Leave the Path blank. FileZilla takes care of routing the scan to the desired folder.
• Be sure to enter the user name and password that was set up. For the example here (Scanner) was the user
and the password {Scanner}.
• You have completed the install.
