Social Media Proposal - Instagram

Overview 
Instagram has proven to be the best social media platform to connect with both images, words, 
and videos. Through several tools of the Instagram platform, we would be able to connect to the 
international students, scholars and families of Washington State University while also serving as 
an inviting platform for other students on campus. 

Social Media Goals 


With social media goals, the two most important would be to increase reach and engagement, 
and drive traffic to the Instagram page. While we already have a website where International 
Students and Scholars are able to access the majority of their information, the goal of the 
Instagram page would be to get these students to engage and share stories. 
1. Increase Engagement:​ With specific hashtags, creative contents and other such content, 
it would be a tailored platform with curated content. To increase further engagement, it 
would be nice to have personal stories of students submitted to us, which will be 
reviewed and posted on the Instagram account. 
2. Increase traffic:​ Instagram provides tools to measure the number of clicks, likes and other 
such statistics to notice the return on investment of time put into creating content and 
managing the same content. This will help us realize which kind of posts gain more 
attention and the changes we need to make accordingly. 

Project Timeline 
The initial steps of timeline would be to create a specific list of scheduled posts and the content 
we would like to feature on the Instagram page. Following this, we would make these posts for a 
timeline of at least two weeks and measure all statistics of success rate. This will help us assess a 
much more structured timeline for weeks going forward. 

 
  
 

Scope of Work 
These are just a few tasks that could be taken for running the Instagram account. There is always 
room to change, add or remove something. 
● Posting Schedule​:​ ​During weekdays, Wednesday and Fridays are seen to gain the best 
traffic and attention. Along with this, we could also make posts on Sundays. The posting 
schedule could change depending on whether we would like to be very frequent or less 
frequent with our posts. 
● Content Creation and Curation:​ This will be in the format of a social media content 
calendar, with photographs, current events, or other such content material we could use 
for this Instagram account. 
● Brand Keyword or Hashtag Monitoring:​ There will be a way to track all the keyword(s) or 
hashtag(s) we will be using in this Instagram. 
● Analytics and Reporting: ​Reports on analytics can be done for each week.

Next Steps 
If interested in the creation on an Instagram account, the next steps would be to work on a 
creative brief on the account’s brand, color and font use and other such material, as well as work 
on a content calendar. With the ease of finding this information on ​www.brand.wsu.edu​ ‘s 
website, it will be an easy step to work on the creative brief. Upon finishing the creative brief, the 
next step would be to set up the account itself.
