My name is Ashley Fivecoat and I am a first-year, 10th grade English teacher.

I am a very

organized and caring person. I believe that I have great instructional abilities, work ethic, and

social skills. These skills have helped me learn how to work with various personalities and

individuals with different learning techniques.

I have worked in one 8th grade classroom and two high school classrooms. While

working in these classrooms I engaged with students in small groups, one on one, and taught the

entire class. Teaching multiple facets has taught me multiple learning methods to reach kids that

learn in various ways.

I became an educator because I wanted to help make a change in students’ lives. When I

was in high school, I had a few teachers that helped shape who I am and what I wanted to be.

They were not only wonderful teachers, but also gave advice and cared about me outside of their

classroom. Some students don’t feel like they have anyone to talk to; if I can be that person for

one of my students, I know I am doing something right.

Students should be learning valuable skills and tools that are necessary for life long past

their school days. In the school setting, I believe that students should be continually challenged

and encouraged to solve the problems thrown their way. These challenges will assist them in

being prepared for conflicts they encounter during their lives.

I believe that all students should be treated with fairness, dignity, and compassion. All

students should be able to have equal educational opportunities that fit their own learning

abilities. The opportunities given to students by the school and within their community should

instill in them skills and knowledge that help them reach their personal goals long after high

school. The role of the student is to get enough sleep and be at school every day, ready to learn.

Students should come prepared with the materials and mentality to be successful for the school
day. The role of the parent is to talk to their child regarding how their day at school went and if

there is anything they need help with. They should ensure their child attends school each day.

Parents and students should check their ParentVue/StudentVue at least once a week. My role as

their teacher is to give students a safe learning environment where every student feels they can

be themselves and learn to the best of their ability. I will encourage students to feel confident in

themselves through different events and opportunities. I hope to be a role model for students and

inspire them to grow into important members of their communities.

To conclude, I want to provide my students with the tools that will lead them to success

in life. My goal is to inspire them to be passionate about something and always strive for

greatness. I would like for my students to look back in 20 years at their time with me in the

classroom and think of all they learned and how much I cared for them. I want them to remember

me as the teacher that always pushed them past their limit to be better than they thought they

could be.
