questions for my students and also for letting me record this interview. This will be very useful for
their project on ecotourism.

Mark: No problem at all, It’s a pleasure.

Teacher: So, let me start off by asking: What is ecotourism? How do you define it?
Mark: believe that Ecotourism, is a responsible travel to natural areas that conserve the environment,
the well-being of the local people, interpretation and education. It Helps preserve rural services like
buses, village shops, and • Local traditions and customs are kept alive because tourists enjoy
traditional shows.

some negative impact on the environment?
Mark:
Yes, as the adage goes, too much of a good thing can turn bad. In some notable places, the
onslaught of nature-loving visitors is steadily eroding the very ecosystems ecotourism intends to
protect. Tourists are trampling, polluting, and gobbling up scarce resources in fragile habitats.

- Notes costa Rica is a very common holiday to enjoy.

Teacher: Could ecotourism ever become a victim of its own success?
Mark:
Yes, ecotourism can become a victim to its own. As I mentioned earlier, ecotourism, has a dual
responsibility. Just as we cannot afford to sacrifice beautiful and fragile natural areas for economic
profit, we should not justify human suffering and loss in the name of ecological conservation. Too
much tourism can damage the landscape and local goods can become expensive because tourists
will pay more.

- Notes really no True ecotourism is about giving back can be used in a real way or not. We know
the companies use greenwashing and it can apply to travel agents and hotels.
