Reflection Statement

Throughout this class I learned the science that is involved in many different types of

foods. Almost every day I find myself applying many of the strategies and facts I learned

throughout this class into my life. I will use what I learned in this class in my every day life,

along with in my future career in the nutrition field. The class taught us the basis of the science

involved in food production and nutrients of different foods, which I will always need to refer

back to in the future. I will continue to build my knowledge about food and nutrition after this

class is over.

The assignment that stood out to me the most in this class was the healthy recipe

assignment. I really liked this assignment because we were able to choose whatever we wanted,

which added a fun element to the assignment. I was able to choose a recipe that I am not longer

able to eat ,that my mom has been making for years, and modify it so that I am now able to eat it.

It was also really interesting to see how substituting ingredients for alternative ingredients can

change a recipe into something much healthier. This assignment taught me a lot of ingredient

substitutions and how they can affect the nutrient content of a recipe.

I really enjoyed how the class what set up and facilitated. The labs are very organized and

fun to do. Even though were making food that were able to eat, we also get to visually see the

science of food which its really helpful and interesting. The teachers and teachers assistants are

always so nice and helpful which really helped the class be as enjoyable as it possible.
