I. Course Description:
The course acquaints the students with the different aspects of the English language: its history and development, etymology, semantics,
phonetics, morphology and syntax.
II. Objectives: At the end of the Course, the future researcher shall have…
A. General: Acquired an overview of how linguists look at language and what they do when they work with language for more effective instruction.
B. Specific:
1. Identify substance to be taught and the facts to be mastered through an understanding of the English language.
2. Decide how to teach the English on the basis of the various aspects of the language.
3. Make a more in depth study of the linguistics from a basic knowledge of the discipline.
4. Show interest in linguistics and its cultural significance.
III. Credit : 3 units
