SUBTASK 51-14-00-001-012-A00

A. (Refer to Fig. 51-14-00-990-012-A00)

(Refer to Fig. 51-14-00-990-022-A00)

CAUTION: USE ONLY THE CLEANING AGENT (MATERIAL No. Fk11-007) ON CRAZE- SENSITIVE MATERIALS.
DO NOT USE ANY OF THE OTHER CLEANING AGENTS ON THESE MATERIALS.
Clean the repair area :
(1.) Put the access platform is position.
(2.) Remove the loose and damaged sealant with a spatula.
(3.) Clean the sealant area with a solvent-resistant brush and alcohol, methanol, methyl (material No. Fk11-002) or solvent, cleaning
(material No. Fk11-007) or solvent, ethylacetate (material No. Fk11-011) If the remaining sealant is difficult to remove, use
solvent, MEK (material No. Fk11-003).

NOTE: Clean a larger area than the repair area.

(4.) Make the sealant area dry, with cloth, cleaning (material No. Fk05-044). If necessary, use a 250 W heating lamp.

SUBTASK 51-14-00-001-022-A00

B. Repair the dent and mismatch sealant :

(1.) Make sure the repair area is clean and dry.
(2.) Apply enough sealant, corrosion inhibitive (material No. Fk09-017) to make sure the dent or the mismatch will become
completely filled. If the sealant is not applied in the twenty-four hours, or less, after the clean-up, clean the repair area again.
(3.) For single-curved surfaces :
(a) Make a cover, with an overlap, for the sealant area with the mylar foil.

EFFECTIVITY: 001999

(b) Make the sealant fill the dent or mismatch to the correct contour.

NOTE: To get a good result, start at the center of the sealant area.
(c) When the sealant becomes dry, remove the mylar foil.
(4.) For surfaces which have more than one curve :
(a) Make the sealant to the correct contour with a spatula.
(b) Let the sealant become dry.
(5.) If necessary, make the sealant contour smooth and correct with the abrading paper No. 150.
(6.) Remove the unwanted sealant with cloth, cleaning (material No. Fk05-044)and alcohol, methanol, methyl (material No.
Fk11-002)or solvent, cleaning (material No. Fk11-007)or solvent, ethylacetate (material No. Fk11-011). If the unwanted sealant
is difficult to remove, use solvent, MEK (material No. Fk11-003)

SUBTASK 51-14-00-001-032-A00

C. Repair the lap joint sealant :

(1.) Make sure the repair area is clean and dry.
(2.) Apply a fillet of sealant, corrosion inhibitive (material No. Fk09-017), along the edge of the lap joint, with the sealing gun. If the
sealant is not applied in the twenty-four hours, or less, after the clean-up, clean the repair area again.
(3.) Make the contour of the sealant :
• use a hollow spatula on the sealant of the lap-joint trailing edges
• use a flat spatula on the sealant of the lap-joint leading edges
• use a hollow spatula on the sealant of the lap joint edges which are parallel to the direction-of-flight (DOF). Make sure the
sealant is across the top and the bottom skins of the lapjoint
(4.) Let the sealant become dry.
(5.) If necessary, make the contour of the sealant smooth and correct with the abrading paper No. 150.
(6.) Remove the unwanted sealant with cloth, cleaning (material No. Fk05-044) and alcohol, methanol, methyl (material No.
Fk11-002)or solvent, cleaning (material No. Fk11-007) or solvent, ethylacetate (material No. Fk11-011). If the unwanted sealant
is difficult to remove, use the cleaning agent solvent, MEK (material No. Fk11-003).

SUBTASK 51-14-00-001-042-A00

D. Repair gaps and butt-joint sealant :

(1.) Make sure the sealant area is clean and dry.
(2.) If necessary, put masking tape along the edges of the gap.
(3.) Fill the gap with sealant, corrosion inhibitive (material No. Fk09-017). If the sealant is not applied in the twenty-four hours, or
less, after the clean-up, clean the repair area again.
(4.) If necessary, remove the masking tape.
(5.) Make the contour of the sealant :
• use a flat spatula on the sealant of gaps which are across the direction-of-flight (DOF). Make sure the sealant height is
not more than 0,3 mm (0.012 in) (dimension B) above the top of the gap
• use a hollow spatula on the sealant of gaps which are parallel to the DOF. Make sure the sealant is across and on the top
skins of the butt-joint.
(6.) Remove the unwanted sealant with cloth, cleaning (material No. Fk05-044) and alcohol, methanol, methyl (material No.
Fk11-002)or solvent, cleaning (material No. Fk11-007)or solvent, ethylacetate (material No. Fk11-011). If the unwanted sealant
is difficult to remove, use solvent, MEK (material No. Fk11-003).
(7.) If necessary, when the sealant is dry, make the contour smooth with the abrading paper No. 150.

SUBTASK 51-14-00-001-052-A00

E. If necessary, paint the aerodynamic smoothener. (Refer to 51-24-00, Pageblock 201) .

SUBTASK 51-14-00-001-062-A00

F. Remove all tools, materials and equipment from the work area. Make sure that the area is clean.
