Learning 1. Data Management: Tables and Graphs
Outcome(s)
3.1- Generate the different graph types according to guide lines.
Specific
3.2- Differentiate between different graphs and tables
Learning
Outcome(s)
3.3- Use graphs and tables as a source of readable information and data
Students will:
Learning
 Develop their ability to create a table according to guidelines
Objective(s
 Develop their ability to process information recorded in a table
)
 Develop their ability to create a bar graph according to guidelines

Stage 2: Assessment Evidence

 Bar graph/table  Rule Check-in
Assessment Assessment

Stage 3: Learning Experience

Tech  HDMI projecting to Resources
 Graph paper, ruler, pencil,

Time Content/Description Notes
 Homework check: Scientific Method Connection Assignment
 Reminder that Graphing Activity from yesterday will no longer Hand-in basket to
Pre be due Friday. Just make sure to be done the graph, minus the allow for
line of best fit for Monday.-Remind Friday too. quarantining.
 Science Fact
Review Bar Graph
5 minutes  Review what a Bar Graph is, and any specific rules pertaining to
that type of graph.
7 minutes Intro to Activity
 Explain: Students will be working with one other student during
this activity. (Team shake assigned?)
 Each group will station themselves by the fence to record the
data I specify. Each group will be observing and recording local
traffic. Some groups will be watching Richmond Rd (point) and
others will be observing 37th St. (point).
 Some groups will be recording the colours of cars that pass
them on the road, others the type of vehicle (Car, SUV, Truck,
Other), some may observe traffic going both ways others will be
given a designated direction.
 Group member 1 will be the recorder, group member 2 will be
the observer. The observer will tell the recorder what to record.
 You will be observing/recording for 5 minutes. Once that period
is over (and I will keep track of that) you will create a bar graph
(according to our check list) using the data.
 Remind: Follow your rules in your hand book, you can write in
your handbook, physically check off each rule if that helps.
 Discuss: Tally Charts. Creating a chart-Walk through on the
board/document camera, while students create one at the same
time.
Activity/Transition
25 minutes
 Complete the activity

Transition Inside, remind of expectations

Discuss due dates and activity on Friday

 Discuss need to start class on time, and stay on task to allow for
5 minutes enough time. We will be doing a virtual experiment tomorrow.
Your only homework for tonight is to refresh yourselves on the
scientific method, and our different type of variables.
