Tutorial Sheet - 5

1. The vertices of a triangle ABC are: A (2, 4), B (4, 6) and C (2, 6). It is desired to perform the reflection
1
of the triangle through the line y   x  4  . Determine the transformation matrix and the vertices of
2
the resulting shape.

2. A cube having each side of 2 units and the centroid at (1, 1, 1) is scaled about point (2, 2, 2) by a
uniform scale of 1:2. The faces of the cube are parallel to the principle planes. Find out the final
coordinates of the vertices of the scaled object.

3. Determine the transformation matrix for the rotation about line AB by -450. The end points of the line
are: A (2, 1, 1) and B (3, 2, 2).

4. A unit cube, on the positive X-Y-Z octant, faces parallel to the principle planes and a corner at the
origin, is rotated about Y axis by -300 and about X axis by 450 . Determine the orthographic projection
of the resulting object on Y=0 plane.

5. The representative three points of a rigid object are: P1 (1, 2, 1), P2 (3, 4, 2) and P3 (2, 6, 1). Find the
transformation matrix using standard transformation matrices such that for the transformed object, point
P1 finally reaches to origin, point P2 lies on the positive Z axis and point P3 lies on the positive Y-Z
plane. Also determine the coordinates of P3 .

6. Determine the transformation matrix for the dimetric projection with a foreshortening factor of 0.4 along
the Z-axis.
