2. In the series of presentation, today we are here with a presentation on Traffic
Jam
3. I am Sumaiya Raiyan from Class Seven
4. And myself Sumaita Ferdous from Class Six

Slide 2 :

1. The most annoying trouble in city life is Traffic Jam.


2. Horns, heat, shouts, scratches, quarrels – these are the byproducts of traffic jam
3. Almost all the mega cities in the world have to face traffic jam

Slide 3:

1. Aim of this presentation is to apprise you about the ins and outs of the Traffic
Jam

Slide 4:

1. Traffic Jam is a condition when a long line of vehicles have stopped on the road or
is moving very slowly
2. It has following symptoms:
a. Slower or No speed
b. Longer trip time
c. Increased vehicle queing
d. Its common in Metropolitan area

Slide 5 :

1. Now we will see what causes the traffic jam

Slide 6:

1. Firstly insufficient amount of road. At least 20% area of the city should be
allocated for road but in Dhaka there is only 7%
2. Automatic signal should be placed whereas in Dhaka signals are maintained
manually
3. Due to non-availability of parking place, people park their vehicle at wrong places
that create jam
4. In Dhaka there are seventeen different types of transport having different speeds
are moving on the road. This is a major cause of jam
5. Unfit vehicles and non trained drivers create trouble on the road
6. As there is no good mass transport available, no of smaller vehicles increased.
And causes Jam.

Slide 7 :

1. Rail crossings are causing bottlenecks


2. People making procession on the road are contributing to jam
3. Hawkers on the road / footpaths are also causing trouble

Slide 8 :

1. We are losing our energy and time in the jam


2. Ambulance / sick people can not move and are losing life on the road
3. At every jam, vehicles are burning fuel. On a study it was seen that Bangladesh
looses 3 Billion US Dollar in a year due to traffic jam only
4. We get mentally sick being in jam. People loose tempers

Slide 9:

1. Any movement gets delayed


2. Once traffic starts moving after Jam, everybody rushes and causes accidents
3. Vehicles are emitting more Carbon Di Oxide, so pollution occurs
4. Due to Jam, fares , cost of business, cost of transportation – everything increases.
Economy suffers.

So what is the solution? In fact while there is a will there is a way

Traffic jam is a very difficult issue and needs a coordinated solution both from
Government side and from the city dwellers side
Slide 12 :

1. Government can prepare better infrastructure through the processes shown


on the screen
2. And they should control the unfit vehicles and Drivers
3. We will see couple of videos about this solution

Slide 13 :

1. Using wide roads and U loops we can reduce the traffic jam. It is being
implemented in Dhaka. You might have visited Rampura U loop which has
reduced the Jam dramatically.
2. In the next video we will see how developed countries are avoiding Jams. It’s
a scene from Dubai

1. City dwellers can contribute to reduce the traffic jam simply by changing their
mentality through the options shown on screen

1. We will be benefitted by using school bus instead of family cars
