to predict different weather. This lesson is being taught after learning how to analyze which will
help them with this lesson.

Materials: I pads, headphones, projector, matching cards, powerpoint, guided notes, and
websites such as, youtube and pbskids!

Detailed paragraphs from here on down.

Procedures:
Introduction 10 minutes): I will start the class of by taking attendance. Then, I will
explain the lesson for the day and explain the different stations the students will be working at. I
will have the groups already made so I will read off the groups and members and have them all
split up. After each lesson, the students will switch to the next lesson group. Teacher directed
students will go to collaborative, collaborative will go to independent, and independent will go to
teacher directed. These rotations will continue until every student has been to each station. In
between, we will watch a short video on weather to keep them interested.

Teacher Directed (15 minutes): For this group, I will start off by giving students guided
notes about weather and the different seasons. I will go through a very simple powerpoint so that
it is easy for the students to follow along. Throughout it, I will continuously ask questions to
make sure they’re understanding what’s going on.

Collaborative (15 minutes): For this, the students will partner up with one other student
in their lesson group and sit together. Each pair will have a weather matching game. One set of
cards will have the different types of weather written out and the other set will have pictures of
the weather that corresponds with the matching word.

Independent Digital (15 minutes): Students will be instructed to get out their iPads and
headphones. They will play The Cat in The Hat: Weather Transformer on PBS Kids that is
already pulled up for them on the iPads. They will create different backyard scenes and then
click through the different weather buttons to see the changes it makes to the scenes. They will
observe and analyze.

Closure (5 minutes): For the closure, students will all go back to their original seats. We
will then go around the classroom and every student must say either one thing they learned, or
what their favorite part was.

Rationale:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmSKsyJ15yg
This video is very useful because it is a song. The song goes through the different types of
weather and temperatures. It is high quality due to the content and the resolution being high.
Because this is a song, the students will all be more engaged and interested in learning the
material.

This game supports the learning standards and objectives due to the students being able to set up
their own scenes and then analyze the changes. You can tell this is high quality because the game
is from PBS Kids and they are very educational/
