Effectiveness of the Combination of Lirio, Gas, and Oil

Background of the Study

Floor wax is a solution that has been utilized widely for hundreds of years for floor care. While
there are still a few customary specialists accessible in the market today, most people prefer artificial
and manufactured floor waxes that are nearly simple to apply. They can be used on pretty much any
ground surface like concrete, wood, and vinyl. Floor wax is generally derived from carnauba wax, a
wax that is extracted from the leaves of Brazilian palm trees. It makes perfect sense that a plant
indigenous to an extremely hot and humid climate and demanding habitat would provide the most
resilient waxes, palm leaves themselves need to withstand extreme water, heat, sunlight, and the
impact of rain and wind. The natural durability of carnauba wax makes it ideal for protecting high
traffic areas on floors with little maintenance.

In 1886, Company founder Samuel C. Johnson purchases a flooring business and starts his
own company in Racine, Wisconsin.1888, and Samuel C. Johnson develops his first paste wax floor
care product, to help consumers care for and protect their homes. In 1950, SC Johnson operations
were founded in Argentina, Germany, Mexico, the Philippines and Venezuela (Rofes, 2007).

In 1929, Solvent Wax or solvent seal (varnish) were the popular products of that day. They
were used on virtually all floors in existence (wood, cork, concrete, clay or stone). Asphalt was also
introduced to the commercial market place. It was much less expensive than any other alternative at
that time. This revolutionary floor material created the need for new maintenance products.
However, its major short coming was inability to resist solvent cleaners in use. New floor polishes
were developed at that time. The components were water, wax, leveling agent (Franklin, 2007).

Utilizing commercial floor wax could be unsafe to nature and particularly to individuals since
it contains chemicals that are harmful once inhaled or assimilated to the human body. It is in this
manner essential to produce an organic floor wax as an option or alternative to commercials ones
since organic floor wax could be less harmful whenever breathed in.

As of now, our country is facing a great crisis in economy. The researchers found out that in
school and houses, application of floor wax to make the floor shiny is still being practiced. In this
aspect, the researchers decided to make a floor wax that is affordable and comparable to commercial
floor waxes. The researchers chose this study to determine the significance and feasibility of Lirio,
gas, and oil as an economical substitute to commercial floor wax.

This study aims to use Lirio extract, gas, and oil as alternative source in making floor wax.
Here in the Philippines, the popularity of using floor waxes in houses and schools is still significant. In
this regard, the researchers decided to introduce a new product that will benefit the people from all
walks of life.
