Assignment

In a shift of mining operation, the available working time is 7 hours. Out of the 7
hours, the average working time for the equipment is 5.75 hours. The other 30
minutes are stand-by time and 45 minutes are the maintenance time needed by the
equipment. Please calculate the daily production rate, when there are 3 shifts in a
day, and the production volume is 250,000 m3 of material.

Also, please calculate the required rest time period when the working time is 7
hours, and the average energy expenditure is 7.5 kcal/min. The assumed standard
energy expenditure is 6 kcal/min and the energy expenditure in resting mode is 3.5
kcal/min.

1. Production Rate (Q) = SW × PA ×UoA × P

Given:
W = 5.75 Hours
S = 30 minute = 0.5 hours
R = 45 minute = 0.75 hours
Ask:
Production Rate (Q)……?
Answer:
SW = W + R + S = 5.75 + 0.5 + 0.75 = 7 hours

W +S
PA = ×100 %
w+ R+ S
W +S
= SW × 100 %
5.75+0.5
= × 100 %
7
= 89,29%

W
UoA = × 100 %
W +S
5.75
= × 100
5.75+0.5
= 92%

Volume
P =

P =
5,75
P = 43,878.26
Production Rate (Q) = SW × PA ×UoA × P

= 7 ×89,29 × 92× 43,878.26

= 2,523 x 109

2. Required rest time period

Given:
Tw = 7 hours
AE = 7.5 kcal/min = 450
SEE = 6 kcal/min = 360
R = 3.5 kcal/min = 210
Ask:
Required rest time period
Answer:
AE−SEE
Tr = Tw( )
AE−R
450−360
=7( )
450−210
90
=7( )
240
= 7 (0.375)
= 2.625 hours
