 ABSTRACT
As ELMI OLDINO contractor PLC willing to accept for practical work, I started my internship
program there.
ELMI OLDINO PLC is an international contractor. It has accomplished many mega project
effectively on worldwide since 1937. From those HENIKEN, BGI ETHIOPIA, COCA COLA,
MOHA production industry and British embassy are some of the exemplary work in Ethiopia. In
Ethiopia more of involve on constructing industry, commercial bldg., embassy, luxurious real
stet and other mega projects. From the progressing project I assigned to work at Addis Ababa in
bole lemi industrial park.in the park there is new construction is launched by soffelet (the client)
Ethiopia PLC. the industry is building for malt production. It covers 10hect of the park. It is a
mega project that hold a building and road for all over the compound. There are more than 12
buildings and 40 foundations for saline. The building was designed based on their function and
there is underground gallery which carry conveyer and other electromechanical machine
installed on it. i am really interested on the site and I will gather sufficient knowledge and
experience for future real life work.

Hello MR TEMSGEN my first month report is as follow…

I started on march 10 2020EC. Since I am stranger for this site in the first week I tried to get in
touch with the staff, Forman’s, labor and all other people working there. Fortunately, the staff are
very welcoming and Most them have an interest to share me their knowledge and experience.
That initiate me to aske more and more and I eagerly go to work every day except Sunday
without any pressure. The achievement I got from this month are noted as follow…
 First of all, they give me safety education for 45min and helmet, safety cloth and shoes and that
help me to know what care should take on the site
 I introduced with more of the staff this help me to check my greeting and existing
communication skill
 I saw a batching plant
machine on the site and I got
information, working
principle of the machine.
The machine has feeder
bins, conveyer belts or skip
hoist, weight conveyer,
weight hoppers, screw,
conveyors, cement silos,
mixing unit. There automated batching machine. It is more accurate and use weight
batching system. There is a controlling room which control the amount of aggregate
either fine or coarse by weighting principle. It has two hoppers each with 800quintal
caring capacity total 16quintal.
 After the mixing end up the process we have to take some sample from each design mix
and test for its compressible strength and consistency. The test that I have seen are
compressive test, slump test, silt content and there working principle.
 I introduced to technical site material with their local name.
 I saw all of the launched building on the site roughly this help me to know what lap,
anchorage, and developmental length. Those are one of the important thing to check as a
site engineer.

 I saw some types wall and their purpose.
 I improve my drawing reading skill and related them with the existing structure
 There is also a water tank building is on progress - a site reserved to build water container
which is rectangular basin which have lateral distributed load un like other structure. The Load
distribution is vertical down linear triangular
 The internal bar has large diameter relative to outside because there is a tension load of water
more inside.

 Unusual thing that I saw in the utility building is

 There is an inverted beam on this site on this building they inverted because of
aesthetic.
 There is high noise at energy building to reduce this noise they use sound insulator
called ega haul.

 my last month days were introduction with the site with capacity and character
building days. This encouraged me for a further specialization on this discipline.
