TITLE: Pedagogical Approaches in Teaching for the New Normal Context

Key Understandings to What do you think “pedagogy” means?
be Developed  Simply put, pedagogy is how teachers teach ; includes
the styles of teaching Pedagogy is the science and art of
teaching
 Science : The knowledge of theories of learning and
instructional strategies for teaching
 Art : Correctly putting theories into practice and the
building up teaching experiences

What are pedagogical approaches? They are the overall


perspectives used to plan and implement one or more
instructional strategies
 Examples of pedagogical approaches:
(2c-2i-1R)
 -Constructivist, Collaborative, Inquiry Based,
Integrative and Reflective.
Learning Objectives After a thorough discussion and with the aid of
powerpoint presentation, the participants will:
- Explain pedagogical approaches
- Cite approaches that are relevant to the new normal
context
- Identify suited teaching modalities
- Plan activities that promote higher order thinking
skills
Resources Power point presentation, laptop, LCD, video clip,
handouts
Introductory Activity (10  Present Section 5 (e) RA 10533.
mins.) “The curriculum shall use pedagogical approaches
such as constructivism, inquiry- based, reflective,
collaborative, and integrative.”
 Show picture of learners who are not paying
attention in class. Solicit their ideas on what they
will do to the learners.

Activity 1(20 mins.)


 Present and discuss the powerpoint presentation on
Pedagogical Approaches and its components.
Analysis(10 mins.) Ask:
 What is Pedagogical Approach?
 What are the different pedagogical approaches?
 What are activities that promote higher oder
thinking skills to the new normal context?

Abstraction(10 mins.)  Discussion on pedagogical approaches and its


components.

Application(7 mins.)  Give some situations and have the participants


apply the different pedagogical approaches.
Analysis(2 mins.)  Call some participants to give their answers on the
situation given.
Concluding Activity End the session by presenting this quote:
